Just caught site of this eye-catching women while riding on my early morning photo routine heading north of Longnamptha on a deserted Highland Route13 near Ban Phin Ho. Interesting to note that the further North we travel the more beautiful, rugged and wild the countryside becomes and the more surprise sometimes to see hill people walking in the middle of nowhere carrying huge and heavy loads on their backs.
This was one of the suprises when I was treated to this wonderful glimpse of 'Lanten' women in their distinctive traditional costumes - one of the most colourful ethnic minorities- caught me by surprise appearing out of nowhere before my eye walking along the remote and quiet mountain road. I was just fascinated by their elaborate outfit, the distinctive black indigo-dyed cotton clothing with pink trim and silver jewelry and the legs are covered with white leggings that go from the knee to the ankle. The visual impression was simply a true delight for the eyes as if I had seen it in a book or gallery.
This was a quick grab from some distance as the subjects were moving away from focus but at constant pace and focused on one particular fig while others were busy chatting away.
WS1: Caught by supprise, lighting was a bit harsh to my liking. The mountain road - Route13 is the only main north-south 'highway' leading to the Chinese border
WS2: Well spread out across the frame as they walked past
