Onomichi is a town located in the southeast part of Hiroshima Prefecture. It faces with Seto Island Sea. For many years, it has prospered as a distribution center of the physical distribution by marine business. Since this area is inserted into the mountain of the north side, and the sea on the south, there is little flat ground and the surface of a mountain is crowded with a residence or temples. Therefore, there are many hills and they are called the town of the hill. This photograph is taken on the way to Senkouji temple. The steep stairs which lead to a temple continue for a long line. If we will go up ascent these stairs and turns the slope to the right, we will arrive in Senkoji. From the temple, the beltlike long Onomichi strait spread out under its view. It appears here well also as a stage of a literary work or a movie. It is the town which the movie supervisor's Yasujirō Ozu used by preference for the stage of the movie. Since I walked to the temple in the early morning, I only passed by several residents on the way.
