Picture taken at a school in Uganda. Most of the children at this school are orphans, many of their parents the victims of the AIDS epidemic sweeping Africa.

No one could tell me the story of this little girl but she quietly followed me around the whole time I was there. I would have liked to have known...

Anyway I know that this picture is far from technically adequate. I didn't know what to do about the seats behind (they are rather distracting)- I tried some stuff and failed dismally. I thought about just cropping it out but I wanted to include the context of the school and other children. Besides, I'm hoping that someone will see it and offer me their advice....I figure that sharing mistakes is a good way of learning something new!

Cropping, sharpening, framing...

First thank zou for the critique on my photo!
Last night, I was playing with your photo, just because it's beautiful!
Technique:
- first, I used a different crop, just to accent the face (I didn't want resample it on bigger resolution, intentionally!)
- then I wanted to move a noise with Neat Image, but there wasn't noise, so I've just used sharpening filters
- contrasting little bit
- then I was investigating framing, how to get wider, more opened photo (like in the movies of Wim Wenders or Peter Weir - my favourites)...

You have excellent photos, so go on, and dont forget - be happy! LeOS

Hi Karina - a very crude piece of cloning etc particularly on the right - sorry I'm in a rush to get out but just to illustrate what I was saying about the figures - I'm still picking bones on a wonderful picture!
