I guess many wont like this but hey! Experimenting is what makes life interesting ;)

This was taken at St. Finan's Bay looking out on the Skelligs. This brave surfer was doing his best with waves a little smaller than you would see in Hawaii!

I selected everything except the surfboard in Photoshop and desaturated the selection.

On the advice of Curtis's critique I have done a workshop. What do you think?

Selective Noise Reduction

Used Neatimage with only background selected (Marquee tool, feathered, inverse-select, deleted from duplicate background layer).

Within the selected background layer, made adustments to levels (black point only) and curves for contrast after noise removed.

Desaturate each channel

On Curtis's advice I desaturated each channel seperately and increased the yellow. I think it gives a better texture and softness to the picture.

I adjusted the crop slightly too. I also got a copy of Neat Image and ran the photo through it.
