This photo is of North and South Head in the Sydney Harbour. It was taken on the hike from Spit Bridge to Manly (approx. 10k).

The hike, opened in 1988, is an amazing walk along calm waters of Middle Harbour, along cliffs of over 50m, through the Sydney Harbour National Park, a possible side track to the Grotto Point Lighthouse, past aboriginal stone drawings and around the beautiful city of Manly.

Coming from the most densely populated state in the US (New Jersey) I loved the amount of hikes and bushwalks in and around Sydney. I would recommend this hike to anyone in the Sydney area looking for a close and breathtaking bushwalk. Take the side tracks, otherwise you will miss out on the beautiful views of the opening of Sydney Harbour to the Pacific Ocean, white sand beaches and aborignial history.

This day the harbour was quite violent and the ferries were stopped. However, it did allow for large waves and two rainbows out on the open ocean. The quaility decreased with croping and such. Comments and workshops welcome.

NOTE: due to upload guideline of maximum 800 and minimum 250 I had to crop off on one side, which wasn't my intention, forget the crop, everything else was intentional.

I corrected the horizon which was tilted approx 1.5 degree. The photo seemed a bit flat, to adds some punch I clipped levels (image>adjustment>levels), did RGB and then R, G and B individually just for good measure. The image was quite noisy, so used neat image software (demo can be obtained from neatimage.com) to get rid off the noise. Back in photoshop I selected the see and darkened it a bit to add aditional contrast (changed mode to lab colour, selected lightness channel, used burn tool with approx 15% opacity). With the see selected and still in lab mode I did USM (100 amount, 0.3 radius, 0 threshold). I shaprened only the see the the sky doesn't have much detail anyway.
