Photographer’s Note
Continuing the series on Portalegre, this is the alley that lies on the right of the house that I showed in my last post. I didn't remember any more that strange characteristic of the house: apparently it has no doors and the only windows are tiny. I wonder where the door is and why they built it this way. You may guess that the front façade is on the other side, to the left, but on that side there is another city wall that is higher than the one that appears on the right.
As in other occasions, I wish there was a way to attach scents to photos, as one of the pleasant things one could feel in the air of this wonderful Spring day in this part of the town was the perfume of lemon tree blossom. I have not any interesting shot with such trees, but maybe you can picture in your imagination these little orange trees aligned behind the fig tree in the foreground as blossoming lemon trees. :-)
WS: Partial view of the town.

Nice photo! The front tree makes the picture very interesting. The soft clouds also attract one's interest. Thasnks for sharing.

Hello José,
Echoing your sentiment, it would be nice to attach scents, and indeed to attach sounds to images that we post. I like the perspective you've chosen, with the high walls and cobble-stoned walkway all converging in the distance.

Um abraço,
MCV

Bonjour Jose,

I love the strong perspective; the eyes can't help but be dragged down to the vanishing point. At first glance it seems a simple composition, but I think you got down very low here accentuating the perspective? There are also plenty of patterns and textures to admire, particularly how the rough stone wall contrasts with the smoothness of the one opposite. There are almost four perfect triangles. If you can manage to find three more portions to divide the image into you will have a tangram! ;D

Interesting note regarding this town. I do like your perspective to compose this image. Having that gap between the house and the wall make for an interesting place. I do wonder about the doors as well but I figure they had a purpose in doing so. Nice colours and details. Thanks José :-)

Bonjour Jose!
Merci du partage et bon weekend!

Hi Jose,
Not much to see from the thumbnail ... but when I enlarged the image I must admit I was taken by surprise the beauty it unfolded. The way you composed the scene is just perfect ... the converging lines of the walls framing the repeating pattern of the trees is just awesome. Image and color quality is also very good. I must say this is a definite 10+++ ... excellent work! tfs

Ola Jose,
an impressive perspective of this alley with the tall defensive walls, and the eye catcher that is the line of the trees that make the perspective more strong.Excellent contrasted colors and the superb sharpness make the scene more elegance.Well done.

Olá José,
nice depth by that long alley with less traffic. I like the good definition of the stone textures and contrast of the blue-whiten sky to that. The tree in front works well as main subject.

Hi Jose,
I like the low POV, which you achieved by bending symmetrical to the white wall.
The perspective holds the eys to the far of end, where the houses have TV aAntena.
Cheers for absolute clarity.

Jose,
Interesting point you make with regard to scents and photography - one thing we can't capture - along with temperature! I have some lovely "sunny looking" photos of the Oregon coast which folk sometimes look at in a paradisical way - little realising that we are freezing to death in an icy wind.
This is an intriguing composition, which makes something significant - but invisible - out of very little - and that's certainly one thing photography can capture, or inspire.

Abrazos.
