Kings of the Highway Photo

Photographer’s Note

The big trucks are another icon of the US highways, typical of America. Here you see two of them, somewhere on the Interstate highway I-15, across the Mojave Desert (I'm not sure of the location, but I guess it is between Baker, California, and the Nevada state line).
It's dangerous to do these shots, from the roadside of a speedy highway. I've learned that the second cause of death of highway patrol officers is by collision of out-of-control vehicles when the patrol cars are parked on the highways roadside.
In the workshop #2 there is another big truck, on a service area near Prescott Valley, Arizona.
In the workshop #1 there is a truck in San Diego, California, belonging to the Budweiser Clydesdales.

Hi Francisco!
Great POV and excellent timing.A very dynamic image with great depth,thasnks to your well chosen POV and the few cars in the distance.I like too the contrast of the trucks with the grey tones of the asphalt and the sky.

Corrida de camiões :) bem grandes o camião vermelho chama bem atenção do nosso olhar, estrada em diagonal ficou muito bem deu bastante profundidade ,parabéns!!

Parece que o tempo continuava a não estar muito bom mas o céu ficou excelente na foto e contrasta muito bem com os dois camiões, que por acaso até estão muito bem posicionados.

This is a great shot, Francisco,
I love the way the white truck is just a short way in front of the red one. You chose an excellent POV to get fabulous depth looking back down the highway. Great lines and details and I like the view of that mountain back in the distance and the sharp contrast in the trucks and that gray sky. This is just excellent! Many thanks and have a good weekend,

Olá Francisco,
Mais um ícone americano, muito bem apanhado: camiões numa estrada dum deserto do Oeste. O enquadramento é excelente, com a estrada muito bem colocada a dar imensa profundidade; só me parece um bocado centrada demais, mas estive a experimentar outros enquadramentos e nenhum resulta tão bem como este, por se perder o efeito visual da estrada. A luz, nitidez e cores tb. estão muito bem.
Os WS's tb. são muito interessantes, principalmente o #2, embora o camião do #1 seja muito mais vistoso.

Olá Francisco,
gostei de ver essas carretas na estrada, achei curioso esse espelho que elas tem na frente do motor, nunca vi isso aqui nas brasileiras, que por sinal costumam sem bem maires que essas. Um dia tiro uma foto dos caminhões daqui, que apesar da ausência dos espelhos tem alguns outros acessórios bem interessntes, típicos de estradas ruins, hehe!

Estas fotos ficaram muito boas, dando uma ótima idéia destes monstros das estradas. O POV está excelente.
Aqui no Canadá também há coisas enormes assim e até maiores (como você e o Lucas disseram) assombrando as estradas, ainda mais com dois canos que mais parecem dois chifres demoníacos, mais ou menos como nesta foto aqui, de um seu xará.
Não gosto nem um pouco de ver um destes pelo meu retrovisor ;-)

Uma foto interessante, o contraste de cores entre os dois caminhoes funciona bem e o ceu carregado oferece tambem um bom contraste. Apesar de a chuva parecer estar para chegar voce pegou uma excelente luz.

if there is something that makes me loose the control of my vehicle while driving is a police car with flashing lights and the soft shoulder. But, you're right. It looks safe to do such shot and that isn't true. Yet, I'm still looking forward to get some good shots of these Kings of the Roads! Nice capture! Did you consider in doing the same with panning or blurr?

Great photo, well-framed, excellent detail and color. And you're right, it IS dangerous.

The two WS photos are also good but they lack the dynamic aspect of this one. I have a nephew that drives for Werner but this isn't his truck.

I was thinking with surprise that this was Portugal in the thumbnail - naturally it would be California.

Here in the US, Diesel is now about 50 cents higher than gas. Since diesel is less processed, it seems to be political pricing. I wonder if it's aimed at getting some trucks off the road; it's a concept I could support. However truckers get some kick-back on fuel, so it may just be that diesel cars tend to be more expensive and get better mileage so they can better afford a higher price; again a concept I can support even though Larry is quite disgruntled.

Uma beleza de enquadramento aqui. Interessante é como o MAC toma conta do mercado americano. Aqui no Brasil temos uma variedade bem maior, um mercado bem distribuido entre os Mercedes, os Scania, os Volvo, etc. diferentemente dos EUA onde parece que só se vê MAC ...

aqui temos caminhões enormes nas estradas, incluindo bi-trens imensos. Aqui a foto ficou bem bonita, o asfalto e o céu cinzentos fizeram boa moldura para os veículos brilharem. boa luz, pov e enquadramento, foto bem feita.
