Photographer’s Note
An image from the beach at not more than 200 meters from our house, the beach where we spent the large part of our vacation. Long more than 3 kilometers, empty, with 3 bars on the beach to have food and beers and with wonderful deep blue water.
I don't know why it's every summer empty of people...for sure there are in the 30 kilometers Norther and Souther than this one dozens of other beachs with white sand and the pale blue cristal waters...that's sure, but in August its are crowded as a football match between Inter & Milan.
Fortunally people love to go in that crowded beachs, so we have our 3 kilometers one just for us and other not more than 100, 150 people, every day of August.
One of the must beautiful thing is that the largest part of the guys on the beach are young Sardinians, few tourists from the continent, and the young Sardinians, for a not clear reason abandoned the beach at around 5, maximum 5.30 p.m., and back home.
Us, with the young children, we arrive normally on the beach at 5, 5.30 p.m.
And the beach is EMPTY, just some other tourists that have the villa close to our one, totally not more than 20, 30 people that after 3 years we well know.
This girl, i think a local one, was on the beach at 7.00 pm, alone with his 2 young children that where playing on the sand.
She walked close to the water, them inside, and she rested for minutes looking down the blue water, with the strong wind of the sunset time that danced with her white dress.
I don't know why but that image is full of sadness for me...
..or maybe she was just bored or tired of an afternoon spent on a beach...
...or she had terrifiant trouble...or she just liked to have fresh water on the feet?

Contrast is very strong here as if you had vaporised all the sea breeze but the mood spreading out sadness , loneliness or melancholy in or from that woman makes the picture and gives its whole meaning . The crop is also a right decision here . Bon dia

Hi Paolo, I like the way you've placed her to the side of the scene. There's a good balance to the shot, and a wistful mood. The late afternoon light helps to create atmosphere. Well composed!

Ryno

Who can be sad at the beach :) But maybe beach life does not stop us from having a sad day ... ah this is too complicated. I just enjoy these beautiful waters with this very special blue you have chosen and the bit of yellow sand you have left in the picture. This is nice. Maybe it makes us sad that summer has left us once more and fall has arrived - too quick maybe ... at least in Zurigo. Have a great day, Barbara.

Ciao

Paolo I think you captured her mood very nicely in this setting. I also love the low angled lighting along the shoreline. Life does not always end up as you wish at times. And I think she could be in a sad reflective mood.. or perhaps taking the beauty in to relax her inner soul from the cares of life. Reflecting is a good thing to do..for all of us!

Hi Paolo,
Certainly there is a mood of sadness or at least earnest contemplation. I like the fine lighting here and the way the person if off centre but almost blending innocuously into the surroundings. The smidge of brown sand here provides great contrast. Well captured.

Simple but rater original composition.
I like position of this person in the frame.
I just wonder if is not a little oversaturated ?
Best regards. Grazyna.

Hej paolo
And thank's for the story. I think there is some thing with someone looking out to the sea. It get's a certain expression of melancolia because the sea stands for something inscrutable. It's kind of bigger than life.
It's used a lot of times in hollyvood production, in art and like yours in photo.
Thanks for shareing.

Hi Paolo,
A fine shot with a sense of contemplation as the person ponders the movement of the water and perhaps life ahead. Very good colors and the angled beach perspective is perfect to draw the viewer to the focal point. Great shot and TFs. Gerald

Ciao Paolo,
bellissima immagine con colori eccellenti e un taglio perfetto.
Ben rappresentato il sentimento di tristezza dalla posa della ragazza: chissà poi perchè? :)
