A scene next to the Monastiraki underground station in the centre of Athens, near the famous old district of Plaka. A place that combines ancient ruins, neoclassical architecture, a flea market, gift shops, greek food restaurants, nightlife. A classic hangout and a very lively place, where images alternate before your eyes and lens by the second.

A fabulous idea well applied, Ourania.
Picture has a vibrant tones, even with its wisely chosen B&W format.
Nicely spotted, Kalispera,

This is a very effective street shot, and looks as if it were a direct "reply" to CLODO's challenge laid down in his notes to this image. Come to think of it, there's a bit of a trend appearing! See what I mean?

exactly something in my taste!(I know well this place,I took also few pictures there:)
Here I really enjoy the way you composed and framed the scene.Cutting the upper part was an excellent idea and the light accentuated here so nicely by your monochrome treatment make your composition even more expressive and eye-catching!
The outcome of your work is truly artistic here.
Have a nice day

the low sun stretches the shadows of the pedestrians on the pavement, but i think you can improve your shot by erasing the upper part (see my WS): the white areas between the persons are too eye catching in my opinion.

The conversion to B&W and the use of the long shadows make this picture remind me of classic photos from the 1940's or 50's. Or maybe from a neorealistic movie among the neoclassical architecture you mention. The times when photographers and filmmakers got out of the studios and discovered real life. This is no longer a new way of seeing reality but it's still a very good shot and I like it a lot.

Excellent choice of black and white here. Perfectly framed and with an excellent range of tonal values. A very good example of mood photography.

Black and white is not my great love, but every photographer makes his own choice.
I like more your previous picture in colour with a other subject, sorry I hope that you appreciated my opinion.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,

J'aime bien cette composition. On ne remarque pas assez ces ombres omniprésentes dans notre quotidien. Le noir et blanc apporte un petit côté documentaire des plus intéressant.

Great title. I like the black and white treatment, which always works well for shadows, and partuicularly so here as you have made the shadows the stars of the show. Its amazing how you have done that too, because even though the people are in the frame, my eye is drawn to the shadows very strongly, and not the people at all. I think the texture of the brickwork in the footpath is part to thank for that too, my eye is always drawn to a fine detail like that.
Thanks as always

I'm going in reverse, from color to black & white this time...as well as one step back in your gallery. :) This is an instance where a good amount of negative space works to your advantage, I think it's key for a shot like this which leaves something to the imagination in the unfilled spaces. Elongated shadows can often be tricky to capture properly because of the angles, but you've managed some good ones here. A smart and artistic choice in monochrome, I bet this would also look great in a sepia. It has a nostalgic type of mood, even adding some digital noise might work. It's just fine the way it is though, your vision has come to fruition. Enjoy the day ahead.

Lovely long shadow projected nicely fills and dominates the frame diagonally under strong intense light. Good for you to spot it most would not! that's the difference certainly boggles the eyes. Just one little niggle and that is the 'hot spot' -the lighting is bit over exposed on the pavement, nonetheless it's very cleverly composed and executed, Well done.

Good photogenic result, well framed and presented with shadows and diagonal on the ground, tfs.

excellent presentation of this shot. I also posted one shot like this. Your shot is better than mine. Full with atmosphere. Good sharpness. Nice effect of light and shadow. Excellent work. Tfs.

I like these kind of shadow street photography shots. There are a number of photographers who now see the world not only in reflection and shadows but also upside down.
It's interesting and not as easy as people might imagine given the direction of light sometimes and how quickly the scene changes as your subjects move!
Well done for capturing this one - I like it!
TFS and have a great weekend.
