Photographer’s Note

Jewish Cemetery in the city of Cracow (Kraków), Szeroka street. A Jewish Remuh’s Cemetery adjoins the Remuh Synagogue. It is one of the oldest cemeteries in Europe. The land for the cemetery was bought by the Kehilla in 1533. Although the graves were destroyed by the Germans, there are still some Renaissance tombs. The Remuh’s cemetery is a true pantheon of the Jews of Cracow. Just behind the synagogue there is a group graves of Moses Iserles’ family. Moses Iserles (died in 1572) is regarded by Jews as a miracle-worker (on the picture).
