...and the temple was closed! Photo

Photographer's Note

I placed this photo "at random" in the "Central Area" of Singapore on TE, but I rather doubt that it's the exact location of this temple.

I'm sorry to say that I do not remember the name of this temple.
I took this photo late in the afternoon, closer to the evening time, while walking by... as I had a local "guide" (a friend living there) unfortunately I did not bother to write down the names of all the objects I took photos of!:( I thought that my friend's stories were enough and I could remember them.

So if someone recognizes this temple and knows its name and - what is also very important - its exact location! - I will be grateful to get any information, and I will change the note to this photo. I have lost contact with that "local friend", so I can't ask her for the information about the temple :(

These oriental temples ever fascinate us by their shapeliness and colours. At least the architetural construction in comparison to the west countries is far less cheaper. I think the wood and beams are the main stuff. Builders are faster and follow similar technic standarts they already memorized. Astonishly west handcraft may be consider lost. Nobody already rises churches like our ancestors did however there are ever some exceptions. Generally these men restore. Warm regards. A good day to you. Tomi

Maybe this temple is actually not very old, but it is built in a traditional style contrasting very interestingly with the modern buildings which could have been found anywhere. The colours are very good for a scan, and I like how you found people in the foreground with some yellow and red matching the temple very well.

The only pity is that sky...a really pity. Anyway that temple contrasted with the building is lovely!

dear Elena,
this combination of green and red may derives from Chinese tradition, and this style of it too. very vivid and eyecatching.
the temple among modren houses looks something queer and lonely, but it may have its reason of presence...the situation in this view is very symbolic to contemporary religious building.
