Photographer's Note
This is a real oldie from my collection of slides. Kathmandu, Nepal, October 1972. A woman is stepping on the grain to separate the husks from the edible parts. After a lot of work she will be able to feed her family with freshly baked chapattis.
This was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hello Gert,
Well, I started my adventure with photography in digital era but this photo proves that forgetting about old slides shouldn't be a case at least for You :)
I really enjoy your photos- both new and old!
Take care

Hej Gert,
this is really an oldie :) but a very colourful oldie! I like the contrast and deep shadows: they add depth to the photo. It's a pity that on my monitor's screen the woman's face looks too dark. In any case, tnteresting note and good composition!
I see a tattoo on the woman's leg.. ?
Somehow this photo reminds me of one of your previous posts (with the yellow tractor)... they look kind of similar... coincidence? :)
kind regards,
Elena

Hejsan Gert!
What a great photo!
Fantastic scan - did you do a lot of PP? I ask, cause it looks like a digital photo. I like strong colours, deep shadows and I love the note. It is informative.
Good job, post next ones from your drawer!

Hi Gert,
I think you have a great archive.
It is amazing that every step in the process is completed entirely by your model, she looks very happy so we can say that money doesn't mean everything:)
Congrats and have a nice week,

Although 36 years ago I am sure walking through the streets of kathmandu although much has changed you could take the same shot today.
A good daily life shot of then and now. (keep dusting those slides, Gert)

Hallo Gert!
What an effort to have bread - done with a smiling face! A wonderful documentary picture out of another world. This brick wall in the background creates a very special effect here. Truly a not everyday photo. I like it!
Greetings from sunny and warm Germany!

Hello Gert
Another great scan of a daily life street scene - this one from one of my favouite destinations in the world - Kathmandu. The colours have been retained and the photo is certainly sharp. Only one very small criticism and that is the shadow on the face but the photo must have been taken in the middle of the day and she is looking at her feet. Very interesting content, Marlene

Gert,
a Good scaning job, to show this very interesting daily life image. It's hard work to get food on the table to feed the family. Weman in many parts of the worlth is much harder working than man. I have seen such life as a child. I see how my mother works to feed us all children of 10. Yes, Ten as in 10. My poor mother, I miss her.

Hi Gert,
Seeme like she's smiling at having her photo taken. I like the saturation in the shot and the PoV, the inclusion of the doorless frames and the desolate plasterless wall, it shows life in the most basic conditions.
The tray full of what seems to be sundried chillies adds a nice balance to the overpowering color and tones of the wheat.
I really like this shot
Thanks for sharing

A fine 'oldie' this one 'Gert. always interesting to see these photos from some time back. Also well preserved colours here - even after the scanner. And for sure a most interesting capture of the daily life at that time.
