weekend frustration Photo

Photographer’s Note

I have no idea what I was thinking when this weekend we went TWICE to Shelburne Falls, a village located in the towns of Shelurne and Buckland in Franklin County, Massachusetts, United States, where one of the major attraction is the glaciel potholes of the Deerfield River. sun shining brightly, water rushing over the stones... great views, but for some reason none of my photos from that day convey the force of the river or actually SHOW the potholes. why? no idea. I just know that I hope for a good weather next weekend as well to try Shelburne Falls for the third time.

this photo is deliberate exaggeration of this photo by zmey, the major difference being super wide angle and POLARISER (Peter, are you listening? should I mention that I do not own a filter that would fit my Sigma lens, so I had to fish in Kristaps' bag?). other than that I liked bright and cheerful colours fit for the spring.

hey :)

i like it... some sort of glitz and polished finish feel to it. the sun reflection renders the scene very alive and the polarizer has done excellent job to match the sky blue with the frame color. the warped tilt works well too.

Hello Kristine,

Thanks for your nice words yesterday, it's so nice to be back. I missed my TE routine.

I really like the bold colors and dynamic lines this photo creates. I keep turning my head sideways to get a proper alignment but this shot really works for me. I like the strong reflection in the glass as well. I think I'm going to have to invest in a 10mm lens.

Hi kristine, very nice composition for this photo. I like the angle that you choose. Nice vibrant colors, is that because the polarizer, i actually need to get one too.
That could actually be a house in Caminito!!!

Kristine,
Not only the tilt, but for me personal it's the blue against the yellow what makes the shot. And beside that the way that light shines on both houses, strong and deep saturated, just as i like to see it...very nice.

Henk just said it all : the contrast between yellows and blues is FABULOUS!
The tilt is quite something in itself... daring & against all odds and rules, which I ALWAYS very much appreciate.
Heavy saturation, dark shadows... perfect!

Hi, Kristine -

Now THIS is a twisted angle! I find myself alternately fascinated by it and getting vertigo from it. The few stark elements - the strong colors of the buildings and the sky, the bare tree - make it a powerful image in its own image, but now having seen it with this tilt, I find it hard to imagine it any other way.

Two very primary colours, a bizarre tilt and a reflected sun. There is nothing in this picture that I particularly like, but I like everything ABOUT the way you photographed it.

Anyway I like your strong perspective diagonals and the complementary colors of blue and yellow. looks like a pretty advanced architectural tat I would like to se from the inside aswell.

this is what I call very good use of the polarizer :) not like in my last post. Well, there are other features that makes this image a pleasant seen: the tilt and the perspective. It was a clever idea to capture the scene like this. Dynamic and well composed!

Hi Kristine,
No two colors look better together than yellow and blue. Excellent details and sharpness to go along with the vivid colors in this imaginative composition.
Next time take about a five mile west detour to Zoar Gap which is on the first county road to right before the river bridge. There are white water rafting trips and a beautiful narrow river valley with lovely white water sections.

Hi Kristine,

What a ridiculous tilt! And what an extreme combination of yellow and blue! The first emotion is 'GOSH, UGLYYYYY'. :-) The second emotion is a bit more balanced and is like 'Jeez, did she drink when taking this photograph?!'.
So all together a perfect photograph, since it evokes strong emotions hahaha. ;-)

What a compo and perspective, i really like the tilt effect. Color and lights is so perfect and sharpness is amazing. This looks like a image create by machine..

I like bright and cheerful colours to, specially I like perfect blue glass surface of windows reflecting strong sun. They are in marvelous contrast to yellow facade, so positive, so optimistic so I can hardly wait summer like. :) Perfect sigma result with great dynamics, so vibrant, so alive.

Very creative and dynamic shot. The ultra-wide angle lens was a very good choice here. Beautiful color harmony with the blue and yellow tones. I have not been to Shelburne Falls lately, but this shot and your mention of the glacial potholes has stirred my interest to go there again to explore. Well done!

I love this picture, its amazing the effect of the wide algle here. The framing is creative and works so well. Love the colors, yellow and blue always seem to work in pictures, very eye catching.
