Dirt Road to Mirage Ger Camp. Photo

Photographer's Note

The sign is in Russian cyrillic. and reads as "MИPAЖ". Translated to English, it is Miraj / Mirage. This is one of 3 tourist ger camps in this valley within Gorkhi / Terelj National Park.

The dirt road is only about 1 km away, from the sealed road back to Ulan Bator, around 55 km away. There is a large tour bus, picking up & dropping off guests to the resort. They probably paid around $30 US for the privilege, each way. I used a local bus & paid $1 each way, but had to walk from the main road. Not such an ordeal, with scenery like this.

Hello Chris,
Good point of view taking full advantage of the dirt road to make for a deep perspective on the camp. I like the mix of tones; almost pastel tones on the bottom part and deep blue on the top. Very good clarity.

Hi Chris, I'd like to be able to mark your note as "useful", because without it, I would have wondered why this large tourist bus - this reminds me of my former job, leading and guiding French speaking tourist in other continents : great memories ! - colours and sharpness are excellent, this must be a beautiful place to see !

My first impression of this is that it is like something out of the American west - that dirt road, the rocky hills, and the gate which is so typical of ranches there. To find out that this is on the other side of the world makes me realize how easily movies can fool us into thinking that one place is another. Great colour and detail - well done!

reminds me to the gates of the ranches in Wild West Movies. Good texture of the ground and rocks (also top contrast) and the leading path in a curve - to a bus? Wrong time, a bus, no horse? But tents behind? Strange movie ;-)

Hi Chris,
A 29$ save each way is a good deal, considering the walk looks quite pleasant!
Scenery is great under a strong but well controlled light, sharp details and sweet colors... The bus is a bit out of situation, but it shows what is happening down there... tourism is gaining ground! is it mostly Chinese tourists?
