When my daughter and I visited Portugal last year, our friend/hostess/guide took us to the fabulous village of Sintra, just north and west of Lisbon. She was interested to show us the village and the old hotel where she and her husband sometimes spend weekends away from home and as we were wandering around in the lobby area of the hotel I saw this scene.
A very low light situation inside and bright daylight outside, I knew when I composed the shot I would have to help it along in Photoshop, but only AFTER getting enough detail on film. Not having a tripod with me I did all I could not to move a muscle during the slow shutter speed. In Photoshop: I adjusted the balance between the outside and inside light; added a touch of color saturation; gave a soft glow to the highlights; and made a frame.

Hmm congrats, to me this is a nice still life!
Cleverly composed, sharpness maintained pretty well and good DOF. I like that outside the window the trees are just out of focus, if pinsharp it would have been distarcting, but now it's fine. Like that bunch of red leaves hanging there, nice detail.
The pumpkins have a nice lightplay on them.
Very calm shot, nicely done.

Very nice still life. It has a peaceful feeling with the soft light coming through the window. The hotel did a nice job of creating a homey feel.
