Photographer’s Note
Who was Edouard Sicardi?
On the Net there aren't answers.
That mysterious man probably lived in Menton, where i took that shot and where was dedicated to him that small cover pedestrian lane, long not more than 15 meters in the city centre, close to the Municipal Market.
Sicardi is an Italian surname, very rare in Italy and with 2 different regional origins: one in the Napoli Province (with a small diffusion in some other regions of South) and the other one in the Imperia Province, the one that is on the other side of Menton (with a diffusion in Piedmont and Milan area).
But who was? what he did? why a street with his name? when he lived?

ciao paolo, a nice one, i saw so many houses like this but in italy, in verona, in milano, in napoli, everywhre but the ones i saw in small towns in the mountains near val di sole fascinated me most - empty, like abandones, with closed shutters...
nice framing here, paolo, i like this image;
best wishes, jerzy

A great POV, I'd even say spectacular, for this colorful shot; the windows and the lamp are beautiful. And if you hear something about Mr Sicardi please let us know!
Sicardi update - there are many Sicardis in Menton, and also a few in Argentina and Uruguay; there's a Sicardi art gallery in Texas and also a 18th century famous miniaturist. But Edouard is very elusive so far.

Oh!
What a wonderful post!
This is something to be treasured, so I'll erase one of my favourites n order to make room for this. Colours are fantastic, note very intriguing and the view reminds me of coastal cities at the Adriatico I love a lot.

hello Paolo
a nice color and graphic shot ... i like the "opposition" of the lamppost and the street's name that give a nice diagonal, and the motion from down to the upper side ...
Nice one, you had the good eye

Hello

A mystery today Poalo? I dont know who he was. We can imagine he must have been rich or accomplished. People dont get plaques for nothing. You told me you are the son of concrete and asphalt..and today you prove it with this very urban photo that still carries your signature use of strong, warm hues. Must be an Italian thing.

Hi Paolo,
This scene is of an amazing beauty. This places be caused by accident. Nobody can design it, but many architects or painters wished they had.

hi Paolo, that's quite a composition, such elements and with this point of view are not easy to be put together, and i think you managed it perfectly, great colours too that create a kind of mosaic.

Paolo,
Very nice composition and colors. I think it is very akin to an oil painting. I am not sure it is important who the street was named after, but your selection of the POV was superb!
