Photographer’s Note

Hong Kong, looking towards Kowloon, from Victoria Peak. The distortion & vignetting are attributable to the 28 mm lens. The peak is reached by funicular railway, up a very steep hill.

The dark triangle at left is the hill that the restaurant is built on.

Super shot Chris! I was there a few weeks ago, but must say didn't manage to catch anything like as good a picture as you did. I like the strong composition too.

Hi CHris,
A famous view, yes the view from the peak is awesome, especially at night, and not easy at all to capture due to the light debauchery. You captured well here a wide array of night colors on the buildings, but could not avoid this while halo to radiate from the center part. If anybody knows how to avoid it I'm interested too !

I guess you are not too high up the Victoria peak to have this cut of the illuminated town with the 28mm. A very fine night shot of HK, top details and the foreground shade most natural, shooting on the way up. Nice work chris

I was there the first week of Nov with lots of shots taken from this points as well, but I didn't have a tripod with me and the pics are of lesser quality.
Yours is, like you said, not perfect, but it's quite good and gives a very good impression of this spectacular view.

Hi Chris, This is one of the best night shots of Hong Kong that I've seen. Not only do you have the panorama of the buildings, but you also have a glow in the shot, maybe from smog or mist, but whatever the cause it sure looks nice. Great shot!

What wonderful colours mixed in with the strange atmosphere of the misty light ! At least you got a clear view. Last time I went to Hong Kong, it was foggy the whole time and I'd spent a fortune on a hotel room with panoramic windows.

Wow, something really different from your landscapes. I like this one, great nightshot, it glows everywhere. the only think which is bother me a bit, it's the part of the cliff you have included in the frame...but no other way to avoid it.

Hi Chris, this is one of your recent picture. I am counting the time to see your fresh recent pictures.
A nice shot of the modern city. It is nice to see that part of the city is hidden behind the hill. Another half is hidden behind the fog. The front vertical buildings make us to imaging what we have missed.
A well composed picture. I enjoy it.

Colorfully impressive with stark outlines. Somehow the vignetting just make it more interesting. Bright, colorful of lines and squares.A wonderful photo really except Chris, for the black triangular down left which couldn't be avoided.

Hi Chris,
A very well composed and dramatic shot of the city at night. I really like the dark foreground framing the shot and the varied hues of the night lights. This has a pleasing though surreal ambience. The slice of harbour water visible enhances and helps divide the frame. A very successful shot, Chris. A keeper.

For this shot ... I think that halo like effect on the city scape is working great for this photo ... the hill bothers me ... but it is okay since i know it is much closer to reality
