Photographer's Note
This shot was taken on my fifth and last night in Cambodia from a hill overlooking Angkor Wat.
I was hoping to get some good sunset shots this night, but the best thing to turn out was this shot of the moon.
I hope you like it,
- Dan

I bet it was Phnom Bakheng you were hoping to see the sunset from; we were similarly disappointed when we were there and all I managed was almost being trampled to death by an elephant; but that's another story.
This is fantastic use of the 300mm. The "spot" on the moon centre right helps to give the image a 3D appearance showing the moon as it is; a sphere. lovely midnight blue sky.

Hi Dan,
Great moon shot. It's impressive the amount of details that can be observed. Nice 3D effect. After all the moon is round. Good contrasts and colors.
Well done

Fantastic shot of the moon (a very under-represented subject on TE). The detail in this shot is really incredible, and I like the off centre positioning in the frame. Great job!

I cannot add more to the previous comments.
Definitely an eye-catcher shot. Lovely moon with excellent details. The moon stands out from the deep blue sky.

The best shot I've seen of the moon yet. Pefectly exposed and focused with a hint if cloud in the not too dark sky. Perfect positioning of the moon in the frame. It looks as if I'm going to have to dig out my mirror lens and have a shot at it myself (a 1400mm German built mirror which when stuck onto an 20D gives a focal length of 2250mm!).

Hi Dan
Magnifique lune, je pense que tu as recadre car ua 300mm elle n'est pas si grande. Mais elle est vraiment superbe.
Very nice shot.

Hi Dan,
Oh! A photo for me! How can I not say a word about a picture of the moon? Especially when it is amazing like this one! The blue sky make it more beautiful. Good framing too. Bravo!

Hi Dan,
I think you can be happy about this one, the rendering of the moon is excellent to my eyes and the contrast opposing its luminosity to the deep sky is striking, I also like the clouds in the lower part that help to further enhance the subject.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Looks amazing, almost like a big yellow melon, Dan
The bluish shades of the skies are very good with the dark clouds.
I do miss some silhouettes of the place it self just to justify the title,
But by its self as it is its wonderful

Dan, it is hardly possible to believe that you've got such a great detail of the moon with just 300mm lense. I have to try it as well :) Great detail and colors. Lucie

Hi Dan, Good golden globe of the moon. The details on the surface are very good indeed. The 3-D effect looks good. I have tried some shots of the moon but none are as good as this one. TFS. Murray.
