Photographer’s Note
Local Time: 1823 ET (2223 UTC)
Venue: Gas Station at Winston Churchill/Battleford Rd.
This would be my contribution for the theme I created for the photos taken within 15 minutes of the Autumnal Equinox today i.e. Sept 22, 2005.
I guess this is one of those photos that interests only if you know the story.
The story behind this photo is that when it was announced that Rita is going to hit the Texas, people everywhere panicked at the fear of the rise in Gas/Petrol prices (nothing creates more terror in Canada than a rise in gas prices, freezing rain is close second). Normally at this gas station I had never seen more than 2-3 cars but today there was quite a queue for the gas over here.
I had'nt planned this photo.
I was on my way to take some photos of the highway 401 (the busiest highway in Canada) when I saw this huge line up, and I thought that this line up was more depictive of the day and that precise moment when people had returned from work and Autumnal Equinox of 2005 was about to happen.
About this photo: I am not happy with it as the viewer does not get a clear idea that there is a gas station, but this is pretty much the best I could do as I stood at the edge of the curb of a very busy road with the widest angle that my camera allowed.
I hope to hear from other members too about what was happening in their parts of the world today.
Over here it was raining most of the day, so no chance to capture the sunset today, but I might get lucky tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow will be another day, lets hope that Rita will not casue much damage and lets wish good luck to the people in the path of Rita. Lets not fear only about our immediate well being, but for the greater common good of the people all over the world, living in the super power of the world as well as in the lands occupied (for peacekeeping -:D) by them.
Cheers!! and thanks if you read it.

Hi Sarju, I got your message and I made an effort to take a picture around the time 3:23pm in Los Angeles to shoot a few pictures. I am unloading the pictures now. I may be able to select a photo to meet your theme.
This is a very touching picture. There is no such line in Los Angeles, at least not yet. A very well seen and well captured journalist style of picture. Well done.

Hi Sarju,
I think it is an interesting daily life shot. Very moody, that's what I like.
I had a sunny day in the afternoon here in Düsseldorf, but I wasn't in the right mood for taking pictures.
Have a nice weekend,
Nino

Great capture, Sarju, and a wonderful them. Maybe you should start trolling around what was posted yesterday to find pics to add to it!
Let's keep our fingers crossed that Rita continues to downgrade and doesn't cause too many problems. (and hope the gas stays under $3/gallon too, LOL!)

Hello Sarju
A good document of what is going on around here.
We did have the same line-up after work in our small town,my worry was not the price of gas going up,but empty tanks at the service station because of the panic, luckily this did not happen here at least.
My contribution is coming.
Regards
charles

It is an interesting shot, well done to tell us such behaviours. Let us hope that Rita will not be so cruel as Katrina.

Hi Sarju,
I did not get a chance to take a shot for this theme because I had to until midnight that day, plus, as in your part of the contry, it was raining hard here.
I like this shot for many reason. It's very actual, we had the same problems here with the gas stations. It's also not a typical shot and that gives it strenght.
Very good idea on the theme, on your nexy one I will try to participate!
Bon weekend!

Interesting daily life picture. And I know what you're talking about!! Not so funny when you are in the heart of the problem like us!

Well it all starts with depending on oil to last foreever that cars are made in the first place. I hate throwing money into a fuel tank only to be back there again and again. W hen will this nonsense end?

Hai Sarju, I like the note you have and very informative about the effect of Rita. The photo you have is consider OK in such lighting condition.
I was unable to contribute to your theme as I missed it. 8-(
