RETURNING OR LEAVING...
That´s the question, I asked myself when I saw this scene, on my first day when it was getting dark
If returning, meant they accepted civilization in the occidental way, car transportation, tourists, fences, electrical light and poles and the list continues till the infinity
If leaving they would be wanting to keep alive their traditional way of life
Watching now the photo, I noticed that the answer is in it
Hope you find which the true one is

here is an interesting mi of ancient and modern life. I like the varied detail of foreground interest, mid ground yurts and the mountains in the background. I can't be sure whether these riders are coming or going, perhaps returning as the camel's humps seem empty and I'm guessing that is an evening light?

Interesting photo from Mongolia, the country we see here on TE very rarely. Thanks for sharing. Nice composition with this group on horses with camels and dog. For turists specially, it is interesting to see the yurtas. But to live there in modern world? I do not know.

The traditional lifestyle of Mongolia is no doubt changing, like everywhere else. The ambitions of the politicians are to explore the natural resources to make the country rich, and richness means new habits, new ways of life. The cities are growing and the big house to the left shows that people even in the countryside are moving into ordinary flats. Even the baseball cap indicates a new lifestyle. Apart from all this, it is another interesting photo with good colours and a scenery that no modernization will change - unless they start digging for copper right here.

I think that you are throwing one question to contemporary civilization with this photograph. It can be heard so that it may be the question whether the convenience of civilization makes people happy. Surely, in this photograph, there is a glimpse of a life of people who have pierced through the simple way of life. There are a rich prairie, yurt with simple and portable dwelling structure, clean air and lovely animals in this place. It is the question which deserves asking economic effectuation to the people of today who is pursuing and living using the convenience of civilization. Well captured and excellent tone/clarity.

I didn't know that they have camels in Mongolia--learn something new everyday. Awesome capture of this beautiful scene, love those rolling hills. Good pov and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

The wide landscape decorated the white big tents these people live in. White & green in great contrast, while the animals and people in picture, shown in closer range and created wonderful DOF and scale on the whole.
An amazing land in green, no trees in sight.
marvelous taken photo.

Another typical Mongolian landscape with green rolling hills, yurds as trademarks along with camel and horses. They add perspective and scale proportion to the open vast land with some attractive interests in the fg and mid fg, a good combination of modern and tradition. The weather is fairly good at the end of the day with misty feel in the distance. Another nice record shot. Congrats, TFS.

You mentioned under a few posters about the "advanced society" slowly invading the steppes; it's OK for Mongolian welfare as long as civilization doesn't spoil the serenity of such a piece of Tov captured by the rules book for a refined tableau!
Waylim (25368) 2013-08-01 11:14
These three animals you mention are probably the most important in their life since the beginner. I guess, soon streets and car will replace some of it. Life is changing for good or bad. For us tourist we like to see it as the way it was, pristine landscape and no high tech stuff, but for them they also wan the luxery of it like people in the city? Maybe?
Anyway, a good shot of hte over landscape and nice foreground. Yes, the electricty poles takes away the feeling of complete nautral setting, but it is reality as it is now.

Holà Maria, a type of steppes landscape all travellers would like to see when they come in Mongolia, all the elements of a classic and famous region : bactrian camels, the nomads, horses and the gers in the bg, good dof and colors, thanks, have a nice day

Hola Maria !!!
