Photographer's Note

Situated at an altitude of 2,084 m in the Kumaon, Nainital is set in a valley containing a pear-shaped lake, the Naini lake.
It is believed that the Naini Lake is one of the 64 religious sites where parts of the charred body of Parvati fell on earth while being carried by her husband Shiva. The spot where Sati's green eyes (or Nain) fell, came to be called Nain-tal or lake of the eye.
