Photographer's Note

Surprisingly, there wasn't a single image of the traditional Ifugao huts, in 9 pages of TE uploads, only a closeup of a water buffalo skull adorning the wall of a hut. The only other shot of an Ifugao hut was from Bataad, way over to the east of Banaue, & a different style of architecture. (These huts at Hapao / Hungduan area are north west of Banaue) http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/Philippines/Cagayan_Valley/Ifugao/Batad/photo142148.htm

TE is based on learning about our world through photography, so here are 2 Hapao / Hungduan area huts! The one at left has its door closed, & the one at right is opened. They are built on stilts to prevent rodents & snakes entering. Sadly, the Ifugao culture is in decline, & this is a tourist park museum that only Filipino tourists seem to know about. There are a couple of chickens at left. These days, the Ifugao rarely live in these traditional type of thatched huts, & now wear Western style clothes, instead of loincloths. Taken in the Hapao / Hungduan area of the Ifugao Rice terraces, outside the nearest large town of Banaue.
