The North-West facade of the château de Chambord 16th 17th 18th 19th centuries.
The chateau, of Renaissance style, was built according to the plan of the fortified castles of the Middle Ages, as a donjon formed by its four big towers, directed in cardinal points, before being completed by a surrounding wall.

It is FRANÇOIS Ier, 1494-1547, king builder, which launched in 1519 the construction of the château de Chambord, which ended in 1690 under the reign of king of France Louis XIV, 1638-1715. This castle was built in place of a ancient fortress of the Comtes de Blois.

The château de Chambord, the vastest of châteaux de la Loire, is in a 5433 hectares park which extends over the municipalities of Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire, Muides-sur-Loire, Thoury, Maslives, Neuvy, Tour-en-Sologne, Huisseau-sur-Cosson. The castle and its park were intended for the hunting. The castle is situated on a curve of river Cosson, small tributary of Beuvron, tributary of the Loire.
