Photographer's Note

In 1793, the impregnable fortress is devastated by the fires caused by the wars of the French revolution.
It is Frederic Lemot who saves the ruins by repurchasing it to the state in 1807. It undertakes a partial restoration, and integrates it into its great project of rebuilding in Italian style.
Today, the castle is property of the Department of Loire-Atlantique.
