Photographer's Note

ENGLISH: This is the Commissariat on Maria Island off the south-east coast of Tasmania. The Commissariat is the oldest building on the Island, having been built in 1828. It peformed the function of being a provisions store during the Island's days as a penal colony. It was the scene of many violent altercations and robberies. In 1837 its use changed to a wool magazine and stable before being changed back again during the second convict era. Today it is the information office for tourists embarking from the quay.

Bonjour Lisa
Lorsque j'ai lu le titre j'ai trouvé que les gendarmes avaient bien de la chance de faire leur métier dans cet endroit privilégié ! Le format est bien choisi, les rochers au 1er plan sont idéalement placés. Du bon travail.

Gyönyörű fotó erről a vadregényes vidékről. A jegyzet nagyszerűen kiegészíti a fotót. A vertikális kompozíció nagyon szép, az előtérbe komponált kövek mélységet adnak a fotónak. Nice vertical composition. Everything in its right place. The building is well placed, there is just the right balance in the picture, the right amount of foreground and a nice strip of sky at the top too. Great depth and a good point of view too,the lighting is very good also. TFS

I didn't realise that Maria Island had such an impressive building left. Great composition making good use of the foreground rocks and the lonely building in the middle of the grassy slope.
Great one despite the ISO (don't think I'd try to do a large print of it).

Sembra una zona desertica e incontaminata.

wow...now thats what i call a multi-purpose building, talk about a vast array of different uses!
the shot has your signature 'rock-bottom', and it looks as if the rocks match the stone building very well.
i like the strong contrasting light on the sand coloured grass compared to the greenery in the BG.

Bonjour Lisa,
un endroit qui semble vraiment reculé et éloigné de tout. Il est vrai que des l'archipel autralien, il existe encore des îles très peu peuplées.
Excellent POV avec de la profondeur et un avant plan très utile à de nombreux égards.
Une photo très naturelle.

Cara Lisa,
superba verticale nella quale hai posto tutti gli elementi in maniera perfetta, dalle pietre in FG al bellissimo sfondo con le colline e la casa.
Paesaggio meraviglioso pieno di luce e colori naturali.
