Photographer’s Note
Mola di Bari is a village of about 30.000 inhabitants 25 km South of the regional capital Bari at the Adriatic coast. The local economy is mainly based on fishing and agriculture produce. The peasants live not in farmhouses but in the town center. They sell there product by exposing some samples on chairs on the sidewalk.
I post another example as a workshop.

Well, that's surely one of the more original produce displays that I've seen, Günther. The saturated colors of the vegetables also stand out nicely against the chairs and street-corner type of surrounding. The gray Kellerfenster is maybe not the prettiest sight, but what can you do. I really like the WS photo, I think I would actually have posted the other way around making the WS the "lead shot". Both make a good ensemble though, well done.

Funny way to sold their products, Guenter and nice to present this picture on TE. It's really interseting and you framed very well those 2 chairs. Bravo!

Ciao Guenter,

Well, a lovely theme with nice pastel, Guenther. The verdancy gives 'action' to the shot. I like the texture and the composition in that picture. Interesting POV. Would be nice knowing 'bout the view taken in height of the seats....
Regards, Hauke

Great daily life shot, Guenther. Full off details, like the chair fixed by wire.
The workshop looks like properly arranged [a bit of DIN norm :-) ]

Beatiful and mindful picture.
We must learn simplicity from the author of this composition.

hi Guenther, I like this photo u took, make me feel little homesick :)
I live in Uk but im from Puglia in Italy, very near Mola.
With this shot u took the essence of the agricoltural life in that region, where still a single peasant goes in the country and work alone and come back at home trying to sell what he cant eat. I have seen this image lot of time in my life, this composition of vegetables is full of meaning...there is the suffering of people here used to work in hard condition and in poverty. This is a 'still life' worth of a great painter.
Congratulations

Beautiful composition. I was born in Mola di Bari. Your photos capture the essence of Molese cooking: simple, ultra fresh... no veggies packed in plastic bags (except for the dry beans), no treatments and sprays to keep produce from wilting. This produce is unadulterated and was probably picked only a couple of hours before being placed on display. The farmland is literally a 10 minute car drive from the shore where the main "center" of the town, the piazza, is located. Fresh and unprocessed produce is very perishable, therefore, only the freshest food could be placed for display outside on a chair in hot and cold weather.
Thank you for the honest rendition of this ancient marketing method. Generations and thousands of families supplemented their income with this type of domestic display and many thousands of housewives (who traditionally did not work outside of the house) produced a substantial cash income for the family in this manner. Other methods of marketing were subject to ridiculous taxationby the feudal owners of the land (up until around WWII).

Ciao Guenther,
I like the way they are selling these vegetables on old chairs...To me, I prefer better that version than the WS...an interesting compo...
Have a nice day,
