Photographer’s Note

Perhentian Islands were a paradise for the turtles.
Before, turtle were in hundreds but recent years have seen rapid decline in numbers.
Perhentian and Terengganu are the few remaining sanctuaries for them in the whole S.E. Asia.

This was one of the dozen of turtles that in the summer 1996 lived along the Long Beach on Pulau Perhentian Kecil.

Swimm with the turtles was, at that time, a must in Perhentian.

The camera was a normal 15 dollars Underwater Kodak.
The image was took at around 10 meters.

Pretty good quality for a cheap camera and scanned too. One thing sad with their extinction is that it is all man made. I'm glad there is now greater awareness of preserving these creatures to grace our oceans. Well captured and presented ... well done! tfs

Amazing how clear the sea is to be able to capture this; especially with a cheap camera. I expect it was a magic moment for you.

Seems to be a way to sped the day swinning around with some turtles..
Good capture with the cheap camera Paolo, even survived the scanner. A fine greenish overall setting of this underwater exploration..
