Going up to 4000m - 400th post & 3 years Photo

Photographer’s Note

One year after my 2nd anniversary I needed to go up again for more fresh air in the mountains. So, I digged in the archives of my old Ixus and choose this one. Again, the Caçkar mountains, but unlike last year, there's no carpet of clouds to enjoy and no 'seat' to relax. This is the second of 5 days of treking and there's still several hours of effort to reach the top. This is at an altitude of about 3850m and it's not far from Deniz Golu (lake), below and to the left of this view.

The rigourous winter, brought a late spring with a lot of ice and snow that didn`t melt yet.
The top is above 3930m altitude and the climbing was very hard, with lots of stone obsticals besides the ice, the snow and the lack of oxigen (above 3700m). We left from the Dilber Duzu camping (3328m) at 6:00 in the morning and arrived 12 hours later, exausted, but the scenery was unbelievable gorgeous and worth the effort.

congratulations on your double anniversary,it's so rare to coexist both of them.I wish you more and better photos.I like this one because of the chilly sense,in the middle of August.The walking woman on the Mt,with her red jacket contrasted perfect with the snow.The haze in the background make the scene more realistic.Well done.

this is certainly an amazing terrain and considering the high altitude we may conclude fantastic experience and enjoyment especially for hikers! Very good capture indicating the human presence and the physical efforts! Nevertheless I don't detect special equipment for hikers!

1095 dias, ou pelo menos grande parte deles, de partilha quer de fotos quer de comentários, é um número muito assinalável e que merece um comentário atempado.
Parabens por mais este ano, que espero seja de continuidade ainda que quebrado por alguma preguiça ou "férias", ou seja lá o que for.
Quanto à foto, subir a estas altitudes apesar de gostar muito da vista não seria para mim, sou muito preguiçoso, mas de facto a vista é fabulosa e muito bem completada por esta figura humana (não, agora já não caio mais no erro de tecer comentários à pessoa, não vá meter outra vez a pata na poça).

A red spot of colour and the blue sky behind, even a bit hidden, together with the lines and the fog above the dark rock and bright snow. Pleasant combination.

Congratulations on your double milestone. How clever to link them together. Also welcome back from Spain. I look forward to seeing what you have for us from there.
This is an unexpected post to see snow in Turkey in July, although at those altitudes it's not so surprising. Your little Ixus served you well (I had one too)and has exposed the image perfectly with the blue sky, thin clouds and white snow. I wish the girl in red had been further left, but we've had this conversation before. ;D
Let's see what the next 400 and 3 years will bring. ;D

hoy celebras dos eventos, tu 400 post y tres años en TE. Buenas cifras para una celebración, y buena elección de una "vieja" foto tomada con tu Ixus hace tres años.
Para los que amamos la montaña y hemos realizado ascensiones a algunas cimas interesantes, esta toma nos evoca grandes momentos, donde el cansancio y el esfuerzo se combinan con una gran sensación de libertad y felicidad.
Me gusta el contraste de los vivos colores de la ropa de la chica con la blancura de la nieve, y el efecto de la neblina que no consigue ocultar la belleza de estas impresionantes cumbres y del cielo azul.

Didn't know there was snow in July in Turkey (with the exception of the Ararat Mountain).
The climbing was probably very hard but I think the woman is going into the direction of the light and out of the clouds.

Bravo Ricardo.Intelligent Ricardo. This is a beautiful pic: I love the soft fog on this wonderful mountains. Like a dream... And, as you know, I live in the Dolomites, I love SO much the mountains. Some time, me too, need a breath of fresh air. So, I go, I go, I go up, up, up. Just alone. Till the top of a beautiful mountain. When I am there I look around: so a wonderful world! A posição da "garota" dá mesmo a ideia de que a subida não é fácil. O que admiro mais é a tua vontade de subir a altitudes elevadas. A Serra da Estrela não chega?!!! Tens vir à Austrália para tentares o Mount Kosciuszko, que com 2228 metros (tão baixinho) é o mais alto cá da terra.

3 anos, 400 posts, 4000 metros... É digno de ser comemorado! Gosto imenso da foto! Imensas linhas mais ou menos na diagonal, uma luminosidade muito típica de alta montanha, com o sol a tentar penetrar na névoa, que provavelmente até é mesmo uma nuvem; e depois uma montanhista vestida de vermelho a caminhar penosamente, muito bem posicionada na imagem.
Aposto que deves ter uma mão cheia de fotos interessantes como esta nos teus arquivos!

Hello Ricardo,
At first I thought you had come to Turkey, and it took me a certain time to read and discover that you had dug in your archives. There's a natural haze in the picture, it makes it so different and a trend to climb up which we can feel on the tilt in the girl's motion. I am perhaps a bit old to go on these treks, so I must rely on good pictures as this one.

Estive um bom bocado a olhar e a pensar porque é que gosto pouco desta foto. Havia algo que não me agradava. Acho que é porque ela está demasiado perto; no meio dessas montanhas imponentes a rapariga devia ter menos protagonismo, digamos assim.
Além disso, ela está demasiado à frente, adiantada. A subida ficava mais forte se na imagem ainda faltasse mais de metade (da imagem) para ela subir.
Mas a foto está boa; só não é das melhores que tens apresentado.

I come a little late to wish you a good birthday but it is still time to do it… A beautiful photograph to appear your rise towards the 400 next photographs !!! At this altitude the rise must be really difficult. The light filters with difficulty through the fog but I like these contrasts. Good quality of image, well done Ricardo.

I just came back from my Canada/USA trip, and so I see many really nice new pictures in your gallery....
Well, first of all congratulations to your 400th post and 3 years on TE! I don´t know what I should admire more, but I think, the most special thing is, that you managed to post 400 pictures in three years ;) !!!
Anyway, this shot is really nice, and wow, 4000 metres, I´ve never been on such a high mountain (the ones we have in Germany are only about 2000 to 2500). The red color makes a fantastic contrast to the white and grey surrounding and it is really good that you left a part of the blue sky on the top of the picture. Also well composed and you present the atmosphere very well with this photo.
