Photographer’s Note

Ahmad kindly granted a portrait when i kindly showed him my camera.
He is a school boy, living in Aleppo.
The thousand year old wall at his back, depicts some Arabic scripts, and Ahmad might be presenting the thousand years Syrian childishness in front of it.

Great portrait Deniz. It shows character and that's good. Love the shadows and that "though" concrete background wall. Very good. You really succeeded in showing the soul of your model.

Cocugun yuzundeki karanlik super!!! Uzakdogu korku filmleri sektoru birgun kiz cocuklarin yeterince korkutucu olmadigina karar verirse, ya da Ringu’ya bir tane daha devam filmi cekmeye kalkip da Sadako’nun masum erkek kardesi arayisina girerse... Yuzundeki guzel gulumseyise tezat o mistik karanlik... 50mm burda napardi merak etmedim dersem... Yalan inanma :)

Definitely my favorite shot from your recent postings. The black and white treatment is perfect. Did you do any sharpening to the photo? It seems there may be some of those white halos involved in the image. The lighting is superb combined with the composition, it's stunning.

evet notunu okumadan fotografa baktığımda arkadaki eski arapçaların önünde ne kadar taze duruyor gibi bişi yazmayı planlamıştım, notunu okudum ve sen de aynı noktaya değinmişsin, sol gözündeki karanlık eski zamanları yansıtır gibi, sağdaki yarı aydınlık da içindeki umudu belki.. güzel olmuş çok, eline sağlık!!

Hello, Deniz -

A very nice introspective portrait, with just a touch of mischief in the boy's smile. B&W was a good choice, too, as you were able to show the richness of the skin quite well. I do think the right eye is a bit too shadowed, though.

This is a great portrait from Ahmand, Deniz.
