Bronze Age burial mound Photo

Photographer’s Note

These tumuluses are scattered all over Denmark. They date from the Nordic Bronze Age which was from approx. 1700 b.c.to 500 b.c. Most of them were emptied by grave robbers long ago, but at least the mounds in the landscape have been left by the farmers who have ploughed around them for many centuries. For the past several centuries they have of course been protected by law, and in the flat land of Denmark these artificial "hills" often represent interesting view-points. Although they are often in the middle of a farmer's field, every citizen has a right to access them. Some of them you can enter by crawling through a narrow passage and thereby experience the inside of a prehistoric burial chamber - but bring your own lighter and candle. It's dark inside.
The white specks are seagulls that feast off a freshly plowed field.

There is theme of broken/crossing lines here that I like. The first broken line is the horizon that would have been pretty straight if it wasn't for the mound. The patch of seagulls create a line that breaks the field lines. This picture would be very plane and boring without the two, but they make it interesting.

A very great note of this tumuluses Per, I think seagulls to see on it field, nice depth photo, beautiful sky with this clouds.

Very good catch, Per. Simple but well presented in good color contrast, and with a fine positioning of the tumulus in the frame. The seagulls make a nice pattern. Nothing much to suggest in terms of improvement here, except I figure a bit of a zoomed-in version should also look very nice. Interesting notes, too, I learned something ;-)
