Photographer’s Note

(NB : I've added another version of the same photo in the WS : hope that it looks better, what do you think ?)

A Sicilian wedding : they have been living in Belgium since decades and are of course Belgians too (hence the frame with our Belgian colours that some of you don't like so much : sorry !), but they have kept their particular customs that I have been describing on TL (please, see below).

About this image : a bottle of champagne was opened to fill only 2 cups for the newly weds, then the bottle was shaken vigorously and there was first a light shower on the assistance and then this photo, after which the last drops were drunk straight from the bottle by our MannekenPis.

We were watching this wedding with Italians from Rome who enjoyed this tremendously and were as curious as I was, it was a bit like a movie with new events happening every minute - here is the succession of events (= follow the arrow, or watch separately here :)

1 - coming out of the church : guard of honour by the "demoiselles" ,
2 - the traditional shower of rice ,
3 - raising the cups of champagne and posing for the photo ,
4 - ... (this photo here comes in between),
5 - the end of the bottle (MannekenPis 2) ,
6 - (!!!!!!!!!!!!) drinking the last drops, straight from the bottle ,
7 - the symbolic freeing of 2 white doves.
