Castle of Requesens Photo

Photographer’s Note

Plan on five hours for the trip. Drive in the direction La Jonquera and leave the road, shortly before the border toward Cantallops (wolf singing). The road leads us uphill through groves of olive trees. After we pass the pretty village Cantallops, the adventure on washed sand roads begins.

Jeeps are particularly well suited for these roads. Anyone possessing a sporty vehicle with low-lying spoilers should find another automobile. After numerous curves we reach the top and dip into the green forest with its beeches, oaks and chestnut trees and we are now in the nature park of the Albera Mountains, an area, which remained exempted from civilization or industry.

The castle Requesens is a strong fortress on the summit of a mountain in the midst of natural forest, surrounded by enormous Lebanese cedars, which were planted long ago by the masters of the castle.

Very nice compositions with superb diagonals. Stormy light is impressive, and the contrast and textures are great. Superb depth ! Well done !

Hi Gal,

Thanks for taking me with you on this journey. I like the photo very much.

Initially I had expected a note with some dark poem or drama, seen this photo at first. But nevertheless your note is wonderful.

Despite from the "cromatic abberation" on the left side of the castle, it's a great composition.

I am looking forward to your next shots and notes...

Imagem "potente"! Gosto da agressividade geral criada pelas pedras, pelo céu carregado e pela pouca luz. Embora não haja um ponto indiscutivel como elemento principal as duas diagonais paralelas a apontarem para a torre quadrada equilibram a composição.

Aplicaste alguma ferramenta tipo Clarify para obteres este efeito?

beautiful earth-tones in the castle... the sky is very well processed, but the edges are still abit too visable... maybe with a soft clone setting you could have swept that away a bit...

Puissance et force se dégagent de ces tours et bâtiments du château face à un ciel qui semble les provoquer.
J'aime beaucoup cette lumière sombre qui donne un sentiment menaçant.

Wonderful note Gal and dramatic image with fine details. I ponder, with those who notice the artifacts at the edges of the castle, at how these came into being, whether as a product of capture of post processing. I'm not even certain I would wish them removed, since they add to the other-worldly quality to the image, a quality alluded to by Cesar in his reference to a computer game. This is clearly a case where your fine eye saw a possibility for a composition that all too easily would be overlooked by visitors seeking grand vistas with their cameras. Fine work.
