Djemaa el Fna

The restaurants / eating stalls in full swing on the Djemaa el Fna. The exciting hot spot of night time Marrakech.
In a WS I posted a view of the square in daylight.
‘Nuf said about this famous and well documented place. Enjoy :-)

The process: Shot from the first story of the Algana restaurant. The restaurant is directly left of the minaret in the WS pic.

The PCS3 work flow: I altered the saturation, contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, using different layers, enhanced the edges, USM-ed (a 5 step method), added a frame and resized and did a gentle USM (1,1px, 14%) again on a 50% transparent layer.

Hola Bert! So good this photo that goes directely to my favourites. It´s like to universes completely different, up and down, and what has a warm color seems to be quiet, and what has a cold color is boiling of live and mouvement... I can even imagine the smell of the food.

Hallo Bert,
Ik was hier in 2004, mijn laatste analoge reis en heb onzettend veel moeite gehad om hier een fatsoenlijke plaat af te leveren. Belichting was vele malen lastiger dan nu in het digitale tijdperk en als ik zie hoeveel details jij hebt weten te behouden, maar tevens het licht heel netjes binnen de grenzen ligt dan komen die van mij amper in de buurt. Ik zal een topscanner moeten aandragen om dit te evenaren.
Ik zat op één van die balkons op het plein met een lange lens te schieten, waar zat jij met je 17-85?
Mooie foto Bert, vooral de belichting is top.

Hoi Bert,

Oh prachtig wat een detail!! Heerlijk hoe je hier het licht in de hand hebt gehouden. En dan daarbij nog het feit dat het een soort van candid foto is. Heel natuurlijk.
Grappige discussie ook met Henk. En leuk om te zien dat jullie op het end zo'n 800 kilometer uit elkaar bleken te zitten in plaats van op hetzelfde balkon :-).

Hello Bert,

Hoe u het voor elkaar gekregen heeft is hoe dan ook zeer goed gedaan, en we spreken alleen over het eind resultaat, dus wat we hier tezien krijgen.
En dit is zeker top kwaliteit Bert, want ik ben er nooit geweest, maar het lijkt mij geen gemakkelijke klus hier om dit tot een mooi licht en samenstelling te leiden.
De scherpte is ontegensprekelijk van hoog kwaliteit zonder maar iets te breken, wie de mensen zoukennen kan ze hier herkennen, opgelet wie hier niet zou moeten zitten niet waar Bert!
Goed werk man, bedankt voor uw bezoek, en prettige reis wanneer ik alles begrijp, zien we u niet volgende week.

i've looked at these markets myself. feeling, there was something intrinsically photogenic in them (as whole), but could not figure out 'an interesting way' to show them. i see, you have done a good work here. an engaging scene with well managed light control.

Een mooi overzicht van deze drukke plek vanaf een goedgekozen punt. Het licht heb je uitstekend weten te managen. Mede hierdoor, en door de vele mensen, is het een heel sfeervolle foto geworden. Geslaagd fotowerk!

A very good night shot of this bustling market. Something I have often thought about doing in Bangkok, but just never really got around to it because im too lazy to bring a tripod:)
Maybe I should consider it again.
