Photographer’s Note

This is a view of the famous Orient Beach in French Saint Martin. The photo was taken from a sailboat while on an island tour. Orient Beach sweeps around a blue cove, facing east, as the name suggests. The 2 mile long, white powdered sand beach is protected from the Atlantic waves by a reef, and the bottom has a very gradual slope. The area has been recognized as a marine reserve, so snorkeling in the marine park is just incredible.
Orient Bay is the most developed, the most popular and the busiest beach on the island, probably the most famous beach in the entire Caribbean. The beach is reputed as much for its natural beauty and setting as it is for having the island´s foremost swimsuit optional or nude beach, located on one secluded end of the bay.

High, it's a good shot, I like it! Mountain, all covered in greenery and houses to show it's real size. Informative note too.

Hi Asa,
The uniquely shaped mountains lush green forest contrast wonderfully with the wind sand beach and turquoise ocean. Beautiful blue sky background to this tropical scene that looks more like the Caribbean than France.

Hi Asa,

Having taken myself a lot of pictures like that, that is: from a boat, I dare leave you a comment in friendship. The place is fine and the photo well shot, still... the POV (the boat) has its own limits. It lacks depth, and so no perspective. It can be interesting for people who never saw it from the sea, I'd have preferred another POV.

Hello Asa, It must be a beautiful place to practise the snorkeling in this safeguarded reserve, this general sight and the impression of space which one feels in front of this imposing landscape is well returned to the image, the relief escarpé and modelled ground covered by the vegetation as this village nested with the foot of these cliffs I give find, the depth to the photograph, a very beautiful sight and a very impressive site which should not be simple to photograph...................Bonjour Asa,
Ce doit être un bel endroit pour pratiquer le snorkeling dans cette réserve sauvegardée, cette vue générale et l’impression d’espace que l’on ressent devant ce paysage grandiose est bien rendu à l’image, le relief escarpé et le modelé du terrain recouvert par la végétation ainsi que ce village niché au pied de ces falaises donne je trouve, de la profondeur à la photo, une très belle vue et un site très impressionnant qui ne doit pas être simple à photographier

Lovely summer picture, I wait on the summer, I can not against the cold weather, but I can certainly enjoyed of the sun.
I like this wonderful beach, I fiel the soft warm wind and the sound of the sea here behind my desk.

The beach is beautiful but I prefer the less commercialized and populated beaches on the Island. Nice detail and composition. Thanks for sharing.

The four zones of the photo, the sea, the beach, the village and the mountain are assets to the composition. The strong light is fading some of the colors and some of the details. The scenery is well framed. Have a nice day.
