Photographer’s Note
Not an usual image from me, but since I'm just about to leave to visit the deserts of Egypt, I decided to share one of my memories of the Thar desert I visited in 2006. I also decided to make an experience in a contrasted b&w to get a stronger mood, also not usual for me as I'm a color person, but I liked this result, so here it is.
I took the picture, while ridding a camel.
The uncropped color version is in WS.
------------
The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is located in western India and southeastern Pakistan. It lies mostly in the Indian state of Rajasthan, and it can be visited on a Camel Safari from Jaisalmer or Bikaner. I did it from Jaisalmer.

I gotta tell you, brother...
At the nearest occasion I jump on the camel, and if I won't fall down on the other side of it as soon as I reach the top - I'll try to produce the photo like this one...
What are my chances to come up with something so good...?
not many of them, but... What the heck...
That's what camels are for - aren't they ???
Great production, Ricardo...
Beautiful eyes pleaser...

take care of you, bro...Eh?

Ola Ricardo,
I am impressed!!! What a dramatic B/W shot.
It's really amazing to look at...
You really manage to give a sense of loneliness and emptiness....
Have a nice Sunday:)

Hi Ricardo,
A desert like the ones you will visit soon in Egypt! The B&W with strong contrast gives a powerful atmosphere to the scene... Nice sand texture and a good concept.

Hi Ricardo,
what a wonderful image to give us before you leave...You did a great job for the conversion. I am impressed. There is light, there is mood, contrast and texture. I love that all white sky. Graphic too and elegant.
A favorite. I wish you a wonderful time in that marvellous desert...

Hola Ricardo.
Then, you will come back in five weeks?
I hope so. And maybe in June I will go to Lisbon.
Well, but that's not the matter of the critique.
I like the use of the light and the black and white. It is a good and nice work and also, why not, a smart photo.
Well done and enjoy "yours" deserts.

Josep

Oh!
It can't be!
Is it the Ricardo Lopes, aka riclopes, that used to post photos in TE????
;))
What happened to you, dear Ric? So different of your usual style... Here, you are showing us your vision instead of your photo. And you just don't know how proud I am of you! ;)
I am serious Ric. You just made a huge step with this photo, in my - oh! - so humble opinion! You have entered the "art" domain... Take care! You may have trouble to get out of there! ;) Really Ric, it is that good! A real treat for the eye, this photo!
I see that your lost of job has given you wings! That is great! Taste all the joy of being free! Enjoy your time in Egypt!

Hi Ricardo,
It falls from the snow melted in this moment on Versailles and the weather is cold... I would think of you in Egypt and Jordan !!! Interesting passage of the color in the black and white here. That creates a special environment with the scene. Original, well done Ricardo. A very good trip and I await the photograph impatiently.

Bonjour, cher Ricardo,

The high contrast B&W has worked well. The footprints in the sand and the strong shadow are important elements. I like the colour version too. (I would wouldn't I?)I like the texture of the plants and wonder why you chose to crop them out as you converted.

Very nice color, I love the shadows and the with unknow horizon, is so brigth and contrasting with this man, who nobody know where he will goes. I like the sof waves than the wind made to the sand of this desert and the caprocious and sensual image they can create it.
Wonderful Picture, nice note and workshop your picture is complete and perfect, I love it.

Very nice b/w composition, you had a really nice and creative idea!

Amazing image...infact the original is nowhere in terms of visual appeal as this one. Fine PP work with the desaturation as well. The framing, the compo. looks great here & somehow I am attracted to the deep footmarks, which run down the centre...IMO might be a camel's. Fantastic!

Hello Ricardo,
A very imaginative and original photograph. To think that you had to take a camel ride to get this vantage point. The image works especially well in B&W. The high contrast gives it a surrealistic atmosphere.
