Photographer’s Note
Part of my series of working women in the old Visakaptnam market, during a moment a bit more relaxed : for fun, the younger women suggested to some of the older ones to take each 2 similar fruits or veg. and pose in such a way... Not sure if the lady on the right understood fully (maybe ?), she was shy and did not dare looking to the camera (although posing with pleasure).
Nowhere else did I see a group of brave and hard working women acting so freely in public, daring somewhat salacious jokes - but nothing really obscene ! ... And all by signs, because no one could speak a word of English. Naturally, the younger women refused to pose in such a way.
2 earlier posts with the same group of women :
market women smoking cigars (plus 5 other photos) and
market women arguing loudly.

Shy or embarrased dont know, but indian people use to know how to behave in front of a camera, this woman could be the exception of the rule. One of the things that I love about this photo is how you present us two colors green (with a bit yellow tone)and blue. Both in a pure saturation, this, together with the brown background works perfecty... Of course you have all these two fantastic women... What can I say? They are beauty in every trace the time has left in their faces.

Hi Cath,
Beautifull smiles from Indian market life.
They are very lovely to you here, and that is reflected too..
Good in balancing the lights.
Colourfull, and their way of dressing the saree is interesting.
Mangoes and Brinjals in their hands look like a symbol of their small business there.. Were they vegetable sellers?
Salutes, dear friend.

Hi Catherine
The yellow green of the mangoes & bananas contrasts nicely against the light blue saris. Good sharpness in this suoerb daily life scene. Bon travail!

Chere Catherine,
Amicalement

Hi Cath,
I really did laugh a lot! A great humorous post. Unbelievable how they have the same color and saris and holding the same fruits!
TFS,
Shaeri
PS: I am sorry to disappoint you, but I really don't have many shots of people (like that little girl shot), I am not that good in portraits :(

Bravo Catherine.
