Photographer’s Note
Temple of Olympian Zeus (Athens)
The Temple of Olympian Zeus (Greek: Ναός του Ολυμπίου Διός or Naos tou Olimpiou Dios), also known as the Olympieion, is a colossal ruined temple in the centre of the Greek capital Athens that was formerly dedicated to Zeus, king of the Olympian gods. Construction began in the 6th century BC during the rule of the Athenian
tyrants, who envisaged building the greatest temple in the ancient world, but it was not completed until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD some 650 years after the project had begun. During the Roman periods it was renowned as the largest temple in Greece and housed one of the largest cult statues in the ancient world.
The temple's glory was shortlived, as it fell into disuse after being pillaged in a barbarian invasion in the 3rd century AD. It was probably never repaired and was reduced to ruins thereafter. In the centuries after the fall of the Roman Empire, the temple was extensively quarried for building materials to supply building projects elsewhere in the city. Despite this, substantial remains remain visible today and it continues to be a major tourist attraction.
For more details you can see here
In the depth of field Acropolis.
I forgot to write for the existence of this crane and others two that do not appear in the shot. These cranes are useful for the transport of antiquities that exists in the museum of Acropolis in the new museum that is constructed opposite of the rock of Acropolis.
The archaeologists pack the antiquities in big boxes and one crane gives it in the other and thus are placed in the new Museum. It is the most safety method in order to transport them.

Hello Danos,
Your photograph is more effective and more useful than the one in Wikipedia that you directed us to. The sky and definition are better, but best of all, you have the people, who provide scale for the colossal columns. What a temple it would have been. In Ephesus there is the "old" part and there is the "new part." The latter starts with Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC, when he visited and founded the city (in ruins now) that we all know of. But then the old part of the city has the almost-vanished ruins of the Temple of Artemis (Artemesium). The Artemesium was burned down around the time of Alexander's birth, and was also a colossal temple, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This is one of my favorite photographs that you've taken.
Warm regards,
Bulent

This is a great shot of the temple. Your composition is great using a very good angle to show depth and balance. The high f-stop give the shot a very good DOF which provides nice sharpness throughout the photo. The lighting and colors are fine as well.

Hi Danos,
This POV and the excellent setting work very well to catch the impressive beauty of these ruins of the Temple, with a balanced well image and with many quality.
It is interesting to see its situation in the middle of the city, and the modern architecture that surrounds these ruins.
The people give us a good reference of the scale, and the sky is very beautiful.
Good photo of this majestic place.

Greetings Danos.
A very fine shot. Perhaps the saturation is a little too much for me, but the composition is fantastic. I think the people in the shot are so important here to show the scale of this architecture. The depth of the shot comes from the view of the Acropolis behind, beautifullly placed in your shot.

Καλό το κάδρο που έφτιαξες Δάνο με την Ακρόπολη στο βάθος. Δένουν μαζί τα δύο θέματα. Ο γερανός πρέπει να είναι αυτός που κάνει μεταφορά αρχαίων από την Ακρόπολη στο νέο μουσείο;

Good morning, Danos.
A great composition and a stunning, classic, majestic view! Light management and color are absolutely superb, on top of which I really appreciate you adding a couple people in the picture. They are extremely useful at providing sense of scale to somebody like me who's never been to this location. Hope I will in the future. Have a nice day, my friend. I'll be seeing you.
Fulvio.

Kalispera Danos,
You captured splendid detail and color in this well-framed coposition. I had the same thought as Bulent, that your picture is far superior to the wikipedia illustration.

Danos, this is a great shot. It really speaks to the grandeur that was ancient Athens. From scenes like this my imagination can paint a picture of what it might have looked like before machines and the work they do were so common place and a time when perfection at any cost was the goal. Great work.

Ucili smo u skoli istoriju stare grcke.
Dobra fotografija ovih fantasticnih stubova koji i danas stoje.
Dobre boje pokazuju starost.
Lep vikend dan, zeli vam Paja.
