Photographer’s Note

The European Union (EU) is a heaven for those studying the fine art of taxes, if a new tax has to be invented be sure it will be discovered here. Part of this taxes go to Brussels so that the money can be spent at european level.

The Berlaymont Building built in 1960 is by no means the most spectacular structure in Brussels but is the center of power at european level since it hosts the most important instance governing the EU, the Commission. This is sort of government of the EU with representants from the member states who are very busy elaborating directives that govern our daily life up to the smallest details (ever heard of the minimum required size of Guadeloupe bananas ?) and spending our tax money in a long and ever expanding list of projects and subsidies.
