Photographer’s Note

Close to the entrance of the harbour in Essaouira, seagulls are circling above our heads in great numbers as there is a fish market nearby - they don't fear humans at all, as you can see on this objective portrait, a close up on those birds.

(Not knowing yet how to use properly my new 400D, so yes, it is rather grainy and uncertain in the dark lower part : "bracketting" would have been better maybe, I should try it but would it work with birds in movement ? ... And in a way, I like the grains, what do you think ? I spent a long time on that one, in the middle of my packing and if I don't post it now, I'll continue forever with minor adjustments !)

Nice perspective Cath. The flying parade of the gulls and also a few of them resting below with the beautiful horizon in the b/g made a nice composition. Grains did not defeat the objectivity. Regards.

Là, Cathrine, tu nous la joue à la Hitchkock... un remake des oiseaux, et la vue rapprochée de ces goélands n'a rien pour rassurer! Mais j'aime beaucoup! Merci encore une fois de partager ainsi tes émotions! Admiration x2! alain

Hi Catherine,
I have the same camera, it is a good camera, but what makes teh differenceis the lenses. WHich one do you use? It is not in your data.
Also, allow tp show the exif data, so we can tell why so much noise. Maybe the ISO was quite high in order to take this shot at low light.
Having say that, your photo is good, well presented. The noise does not distract much.

Ces oiseaux savent qu'ils vont bientot avoir droit à du poisson, les bâteaux de pêche ne vont pas tarder à entrer au port...ils vont bientôt se régaler !
j'aime beaucoup ces ombres qui envahissent le ciel.

ambiance garantie avec tous ces oiseaux volant dans le ciel, le soleil caché par la tour donne un bon eclairage sur le fond de la photo.

J"espère que ces oiseaux n'étaient pas agressifs comme dans le film ;) le mouvement des oiseaux donnent du dynamisme et j'ai du mal à repérer le grain dont tu parles.

jolie photo, qui même si elle manque un peu de netteté (conditions de lumière pas faciles) est très sympa. Le WS mériterait une publication en tant que photo à part entière, selon moi.

Une ambiance d'apocalypse selon moi... Ces oiseaux semblent fuir un monde devenu sombre... Inquiétant et fort.

Brilliant how the birds fly towards us, there are hundreds of them. In the low setting sun & the layers of the sky this looks great. My present abode in Delhi is pretty close to the airport. This picture reminds me why fish is not allowed to be sold in the open in our area. Excellent!

A dream like view, the birds,fort and the sky are brilliantly capatured.The low PoV allow us to feel the flight of the birds. The idea of covering the sun with that fort worked well. Great shot TFS
