Photographer’s Note

A father and his daughter bond and enjoy a sunset at the Baywalk.

If you're in Manila and need a nice, inexpensive place to while away a late afternoon or an early evening, try The Baywalk. The Baywalk is actually the promenade along Roxas Boulevard by the Manila Bay, which had been avoided by people for decades for being a blight where bag snatchers, pickpockets, and cheap prostitutes abound - a virtual muggers' paradise, according to visitors from the past.

Now for Manila visitors from the provinces who don't have the means to splurge in the giant malls, classy restaurant bars, and posh cafe's of Ortigas, Glorietta, Greenbelt, and Rockwell in Makati, and the Eastwood in Libis, Baywalk is the best place to be. You get entertained and fed to your hearts' content at only 20 to 30 percent of the usual prices.

manila bay sunset is always a pleasure to take foto of- by anybody. i remember during my college days, Dewey Boulevard and tawag dito, huh? today throngs of people come to the place to enjoy the view, as usual and, yeah the food. who wouldn't come back to see a golden sunset, enjoy the cool breeze like this 2?

I haven't visited the Baywalk since my college days. It has such a bad reputation before ... but judging from sunset photos here and mip, looks like the place has been rejuvenated. I'll visit this place next time I visit Manila. This is a nice capture indeed ... the father and son bonding is very touching. The smog created a nice natural filter for the sun. A fine composition with the setting sun seen from Baywalk!
I'm always amazed to see the number of large ships in Manila harbour, but thinking again it isn't strange at all since an island country like the Philippines has to get all supply from abroad by ship... No trains or trucks!

Simply a wonderful photo. I also posted a sunset today ;-) The water surface here gives an outstanding mirror which nearly "doubles" the beauty here. Including the persons was very skillful and adds a lot to the photo!

Danilo,
such type of photography is almost a classic, but you have to know you to do it. Excellent light management without a single sign of overexposure in this shot against the sun. Personally I would preferred the two persons without the bike, but that is asking to much.

I was for a month in Manilla in 82 and I remember well not to miss the fabulous sunsets! the silhouettes of the father/daughters are well positioned and add distance to the boats. Lovely colors and water texture!

A first rate panoramic capture of Baywalk. Indeed, it is so much better to provide the expansive horizontal view here. The subdued light, with the sun still painting pastoral colors in the clouds,and its reflections on the sea, makes this a splendid shot.The sail boats and the silhouettes of the father with his daughter,on the foreground, make the capture more interesting.Well done Danilo.
