Photographer’s Note

I picked up the color of the frame from the amazing color of the Neretva River.

Stari most je čuveni most preko rijeke Neretve u Mostaru. Sagrađen je između 1566 godine, djelo turskoga graditelja Hajrudina. Stari most je uvršten na popis svjetske kulturne baštine UNESCO a. (http://bs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stari_most)

Mostar Köprüsü ,1566 yilinda Mimar Sinan`in ogrencisi Mimar Hayruddin tarafindan Neretva Nehri'nden 27 metre yüksekte 30 metre uzunluğunda, 4 metre genişliğinde dönemine göre gelişmiş bir teknolojiyle inşa edildi. Mostar Köprüsü, cesur sporcular tarafından yıllarca bir atlama platformu olarak kullanıldı. Geleneğe göre şehrin erkekleri, nişanlılarına cesaretlerini ispatlamak için düğün öncesinde köprüden atlarlardı.
1993 yilinda bombalanarak tamamen yikilan ve tahrip olan Mostar Köprüsü'nün eski haline uygun olarak yeniden inşaası çalışmaları uluslararasi yardim ve UNESCO ve Dünya Bankası'nın desteğiyle 1997'de başladı. Orijinal taslar dalgiclar tarafindan nehir yatağından bulunup vinçlerle çıkarildı. Civardaki taş ocaklarından yeni taşlar da getirilerek köprü yapımında kullanıldı. Orijinal modele sadık kalinarak, köprünün temelleri sağlamlaştırildı. Mostar Köprüsü, çok sayıda devletin temsilcilerinin hazır bulunduğu bir törenle 23 Temmuz 2004 tarihinde yeniden açıldı. Mostar Köprüsü, eski Mostar şehriyle birlikte 2005 yılında UNESCO Dünya Miras Listesi'ne eklendi.

The old Bridge (Stari Most) constructed by Mimar Hajruddin, a pupil of the famous architect Sinan (Mimar Sinan), in 1566. It consisted of a humpbacked arch with an opening of 27 metres, and was 4 metres wide and 30 metres long. It stood 20 metres above the Neretva River. Traditionally the local young men of the town used to jump over the bridge to the River Neretva to prove their courage before the wedding ceremony.
Unfortunately, the old bridge totally destructed in 1993. Through international financial aid managed by the World Bank, UNESCO established an International Committee of Experts to reconstruct the old bridge and the old town of Mostar. The Bridge reopened on 23 July 2004. In 2005, The Old Bridge and the old Mostar city announced as World Heritage by UNESCO.

Merhaba Sibel Hanım,
belki kadrajı biraz daha farklı yapabilirdiniz ama her ne olursa olsun içinde Mostar köprüsü olan her fotoğraf bir alkışı hakediyor. Bir daha hiç yıkılmasın hiç kimse el süremesin bu ecdad yadigarına.

une contre plongée , quoi de mieux pour mettre en valeur toute l'élégance et le grandiose de ce pont.

I like very much this photo, very good composition and excellent colors. The informative note is also very good.

My only remark is the sharpness of the whole image, which is very good, but can be much better.

Osmanlı döneminde inşa edilen tarihi köprü, savaşın acımazsızlığıyla yok olmuştu, neyseki aslına uygun olarak tekrar yapıldı ve sizlerde bu kareleri bizlere ulaştırdiniz, kadraj ve renkler harike, gökyüzündeki bulutlar da manzarayı tamamlamış, elinize sağlık.

Merhaba Sibel,

Tabii resimlerinden bu sahane körüyü yillardir tanirdim, sonra 1993'de bombalandigi zaman nasil üzülmüstüm. Fakat tarihini hiç bilmezdim. Çok güzel bir perspektif seçip çektiginiz resme, bol malumatla TE'ye sundugunuz için tesekkürler, ve tebrikler. Demekki 11-yil süren restoreden sonra yeniden açilmis.

Bu hafta yakin aile arkadasim Hakan (Deliç) Istanbuldan bir kaç günlüne geldi ve dün gece bizde kaldi. Biraz beraber çikip fotograf çektik, fakat isik o kadar iyi degildi. Onun fotograflari da çok iydir. vaktiniz olursa bir bakin. (Hakan ABD'ye 88 yilinda gelip Virginia Universitesinde doktora yapmisti. Simdi Bogaziçinde profesör).

This photo reminds me of my holidays this year. I have been in Mostar twice and just this year I could see this beautiful, reconstructed bridge. I remember this strong, unique green colour of Neretva river, too :). I also see the mosque at Your picture and I visited its. I think Mostar is magical and lovely place, and You showed characteristic part of this historical town.
And about the photo - it's good captured and nice framed by the bridge. Interesting image :).

hiç gitmedigim bir yer ama adını sık sık duymaktayız. Renkler gerçekten harika ve bir mayıs gunu olmasına ragmen gokyuzu de size çok iyi olanaklar sunmuş. iyi ki o gun oradaydınız diyorum. hiç gitmedim evet fakat sanırım 3-4 çekim açısı olanagi vardı ve siz de bunlardan birisini en iyi şekilde kullanmışsınız.umarım bize de gidip gormek nasip olur

Zdravo Sibel Hanim.Very good shot that captures the bridge and the houses across the river. I remember being in the same spot and trying to include the minaret of the mosque on the left- impossible unless one is to jump into the river.Great colours and contrast between sky and river.
