Photographer’s Note
This was taken in the middle of the Gobi Desert somewhere. There is an abandoned ruined town in the background. The only people around for miles were this one camel breeding family and a monestary on top of a mountain close by. This at least 100 kms by dirt "road" from the nearest town.
We gave the kids in this family some balloons to play with. They loved them. They loved looking at themselves on my digital camera screen too. All 5 kids had to see what they looked like with a balloon in their mouths. This is a photo of one of them.
My camera overcompensated for the light, so I had to brighten this photo quite a bit.

The colors look a little oversaturated, but in this shot, I really like them. The kid in the back on the bike and the shadows make this more than just another kid portrait. My only nitpick is that I don't like the blue line inside the black frame. Otherwise, a fun shot of life in the Gobi.

Mongolia! Wow, you lucky guy, it is my dream to go there, the ancestors of the American indians. It is a very nice picture, the children seem still happy and playfull with a balloon or a bycicle, which must be a very big luxury over there.
Did they served you a fermented yack tea?

Very wonderful shot! I like it a lot but I would go and crop out the bottom. Some of the shadows are bothersome and so are the ends of his sleeves. Kudos to the sharpness of the image on how the wrinkles in his cheeks plays such a vital roll to this image.
