Photographer’s Note
I fell in love photographically with this little area of Madrid - look through my files and you will find many shots from here - not so far from Sol which is another favourite haunt.......but what I liked here was the opportunity to explore relationships between things more than anything else...............I think the fantastic street shop deserves the duotone amongst all the other symbols of modernity.
There is another image in the workshop from the same place in colour.

Hi Kev,
nice shoot. I like the B&W choice which give more personality to your picture and gets well here ! I also like all these details put in this compo. That's makes a great effect.
Well done.
Have a nice week-end

Hi Kev, yes I recognize that billboard on the left! Nicely balanced shot, I like the way the kiosk nestles in between those two huge billboards in the background. The street sweeper is well positioned too & adds a nice touch of animation. Best regards, Roberto

No wonder you fell in love with it, Kev! Now I have too. That Aladdinesque kiosk, still standing strong in front of the overpowering billboard ads, is touching and also reassuring. Life is still human. Love your inclusion of the sweeper, a very nice addition, together with the fine tones...
Yes, it's all relationships that make up this at times chaotic-seeming fabric of life... at times more convoluted than at others. Life must be beautiful...

i particuarly like the woman screaming against the photographer (EOS350D Canon!) on the other billboard and the contrasts.. The b&w is superb! with a wide range of greys, blacks and whites... The 5d captor is really awsomely good! as well as your eye of course;-)

This image has what I try to find in my city to take a shot. The wonderful details all around, the working man in the scene and most of all the rhythm of the city.Under the classic black and white treatment, which I prefer from the very nice color one.The big advertisements looks very impressive!

This is one of those times where the physical limitations of TE rules do not do justice to a pic. This...blown up large on a wall would be fantastic. At this scale it's almost too busy, too rich - I've written about the limitations of thumbnail, etc, in my intro several times and this is a good example of an image that's calling for MORE SPACE. Having said that it is a very sophisticated image where your finely tuned eye "saw" all the relationships and passed them on to us.

Hello Key,
Belle prise de vue en N&B, avec une scéne de rue intéressante.
Bons contrastes et joli mélange entre affiches et réalité

This b&w is simply amazing. So amazing that I am seeing color everywhere. The scene has so much to look upon. I really agree with Francis. This needs space, lots of them to be fully appreciated. I would like to see this printed huge on a wall to explore every detail. Very good one.

Hi Kev,
very good shot. For mee too is a great part of madrid to shoot. B&W choice is perfect for this 'kiosko'. Thanks! Rafa.
