Photographer’s Note
I am very worried by the situation in Burma! I thought this photo was quite adequate to describe the way i am feeling right now...
Still hoping things will eventually work out for them and they will be granted this well deserved freedom...

Joli portrait...

Hi Eric;
We hope for the same... Very poinant shot with the look of concentration on this young boys face. The compo is superb, the DOF is also good, the hint of noise actually works in this shot as it adds a sense of dust and grit to the image.
The hand seems to be very sharp, but the eyes (being the sweet spot) I think could be a touch sharper. The brightness of the top right corner tends to blend into the white frame. I think a 2 pixel pin-strip frame before adding the white coule really make the shot 'pop'. A couple small suggestions on an otherwise great shot Eric!
I DID receive your e-mail- thank you. I tried the keystone correcting but it didn't work. Just goes to show us that it doesn't work in all situations- haha. I'm trying to think of a different variation of a workshop I can do for you on it. Maybe a B&W version of sorts.
All the best!

Is this monk a lady?
I have been to Kashmir. I saw Muslim more than the Buddhist. This is a good shot of taking the gesture of the face of this monk. I always think that to take good photo depends on luck. The environment will be totally changed in the next immediate second.

Eric-
This is an intense and powerful portrait. The boys expression is well captured and speaks many words.
I was interested in visiting Myanmar - but with these protests and conflicts its probably not the best choice to visit here right now.

Dave

Tchô razé,
Encore un portrait qui fait mouche, comme sur le visage du jeune homme.
J'aime bien le coin sup droit baigné de lumière, on imagine une arche derrière.
Ca c'est ton style, inimitable et remarquable.

Hi Eric,
I think we all are.
I have little hopes for our UN envoy Ibrahim Gambari.
And not just because he was Minister for External Affairs between 1984 and 1985 in Nigeria under military regime, after a coup of Major-General Buhari in 1983. It was one of the country's lesser oppressive regimes to be honest and Mr. Gambari knows how to recognize a military regime.
It's more that any effort to try to resolve the situation as is with external intervention will be veto'ed by China in the end...

The intensity in his face is so good, The details of the photo is fantastic and I love the folds in the robes. I too am very saddened by the Burma situation. This old planet of ours is suffering so deeply.

Salut Eric! What a marvellous face, attention, beauty! Indeed I am also concerned what has been going on in Burma and the military dictatorship's blow to the peaceful protests and the beautiful people enduring the horrors. The red of the monks' cape and the boy's beautiful expression make this really amazing... a very sensitive portrait!
I will come back to your other shots later--have been away soo long! Had a good trip...
hugs
