Photographer’s Note
I found this old boat on a roof in Oia. The village of Ios is built on the cliff of an old volcano. This boat is 100 meter over the sea.

This is a beautiful shot. Colors are perfect and your subject is amazing. The only small thing that could be improved is removing (clone or crop) the rock at the top right of the image. Disturbs the beautiful water for me, but overall amazing!

Interesting photograph. First time I saw it, I though the boat was a toy on a shelf! It's interesting how the lack of a secondary object and the smooth background fools your perception of size.
I think I miss a bit of colour in this pic, maybe if the boat was still partly in the sun. However, the composition is very interesting and original.

Great choice of angle and framing. The roof of the building and the sea reflecting the setting sun, make up a very pure and clean background for this very expressive boat. Yet, I wish the boat was slightly more exposed than this.

The boat is very–very–very beautiful, the place is beautiful and the light is beautiful. But I think they don´t work totally together...

I agree completly with Olli, all elements of this shot are wonderful but something happen because together is like something don't work. My idea is that the boat have poor light, and in this situation I will put the flash for add light to the subject, for make it more bright and highlight it more.

I agree with the other reviewers about the fact that something is not working in this picture. But I have a different explanation. For my part I think this is coming because it is too good to be true : the roof is perfectly clean and the old boat seems to have been put there 10 minutes before the shot. I know that of course you didn't bring this boat for the picture but anyway the scene don't seems to be natural. Too perfect !
Or you can say that we are all too jalous about the fact that you were there and not us !

I love it! The soft pastel colours are just perfect and the subject is wonderful.
But I think you could have avoid the rocks on the right by taking a position more to the small wall and still getting the chimney in the picture. It's a common mistake we make, just looking at the main element and forgetting the ennoying ones...

Every detail is beautiful in this composition, but, as a whole, it looks too much like a stage display, but with scale errors (front rope, for instance). So, I feel uncomfortable in recording it as a natural situation. The idea is, nevertheless, very attractive, and it's a good photographic work, with beautiful colors. Ok with Viviane and Fil about the rock.

Beautiful, as a Greek a congratulate you! I want to make a correction. The place is called Oia and not Ios. Ios is another island.

j'aime beaucoup la composition générale. la tonalité douce un brin nostalgique pour cette vieille barque qui ne voit plus la mer. J'aime tout particulièrement le fond qui graduellement semble évoluer d'un mur à la mer. C'est très bien fait.

Very nice photo! Excellent theme. Lacking on lighting. I have already prepare a workshop and I'll upload it tommorow!

The composition and lighting might not be up to some TE member's high standards, but I really appreciate the content of the photo. I can never see enough of the greek islands. Way to go on capturing this amazing image.

the light defines this subject - at first glance it appeared to be a boat on a frozen lake (yes, I live in Canada!) but now I see how the diffused light removes much of the background contrast to showcase the lovely rotted boat.
