Photographer’s Note
As you get into the area of the Lost City of Petra, the main traffic area of pedestrians, camels, horse buggies and donkeys is the lowest part of the valley. The mountains between are full of ruins.
This is a view of one of the ruins on the hillside situated at the middle of the hill. I was standing on a hill across it. This is one of the many burial places and temples in Petra. This impressive complex structure is a series of monumental tombs called the "Royal Tombs". Everything that you see here is carved from the rocks including the freestanding columns. Use the size of the human figure to judge the scale of the temple hewn out of the mountain rocks.
This series is my tribute to the election of Petra as one of the 7 New Wonders of the Ancient World.

Excellent picture, one of the best I have seen from this so well known place. You really render very well the intermixing on natural rocks and construction. Very good.

Hallo André!
This is a most impressive photo of an incredible city - and you show it in a skillful way! The light helped you to show this rock face very well because of the shadows which make it a bit 3D. In combination with your note a wonderful contribution to TE!
Greetings from at the time cool, rainy and grey Germany!
