"Shy girl at Yoyogi..." Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another shot from the Yoyogi area in Tokyo, and again the somewhat bizarre outfits.

This young girl let me take her photo, but when I raised the camera to get the shot, shot closed her eyes and chuckled in a way. I showed her the photo and asked if I could take another with her eyes open... now looking back at them, I figured I'd post both into one posting.

Hi Dan

Let me congratulate you on this photo. If not for anything else I find this image facinating, humorous and typical of young teens. She has all kinds of things on her...bow and heart shaped hair clips, fluffy bow on her head, another one hanging from her chest, necklesses and gosh so many other thingy. Well caught and yes! combining the two shots into one frame is definitely a plus. Very colourful...interesting. Well done Dan.

Very original photo and subject. I like the fact that you put the photos together. They have a sense of continuation and symmetry. (the roof of the house blurred in the background seem to match.

I am curious to know what was the occasion for such colorful appearance. She does not appear shy to me. lol

Hey Dan,

Yoyogi's Ugly Betty! Not that she's ugly but she really looks cute and full of character!

Japanese youth these days are very expressive, they like 'animation', cuteness is a major or shall I say a major marketing strategy in their culture, actually an obsession!
