Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal II

I haven't taken many photos recently, so I keep on browsing through my archives to find pictures. I hope my holiday will resolve this problem.
But today again a picture from the city of Antwerp(en), Belgium, that I visited in August 2005.
You can here see de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal (Cathedral of Our Lady) in the heart of the city. The photo was taken from the boulevard at de Schelde (Scheldt river), where I also found this statue.

De Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal was built between 1352 and about 1530. The tower is 123m high and was paid by the municipality of Antwerp. The second was never finished because of lack of funds. Since 1999 the cathedral is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I love how the perspective has made the statue appear to be taller than the cathedral. It's an excellent composition with great depth and perfect sharpness.

Cher ami Lars,
J'aime beaucoup la juxtaposition de la statue moderne au premier plan et l'édifice religieux en arrière-plan. La composition est excellente et méritait bien de ressortir du disque dur pour être présenté sur TE.

Very nice composition with the several towers, especially the very high one of the cathedral (which I recognize from my short stay in Antwerp last year) and this stylized Greek warrior on the right. Very good sharpness.

Hallo Lars,

Een zeer mooi plaatje uit Antwerpen, met de onze Lieve Vrouwen toren als blikvanger, door u vertikaal frame kan de foto veel groter gemaakt worden, samen met het standbeeld krijgen wij een mooie samenstelling, goed foto werk opniew, ook al komt hij uit uw archief.

Excellent shot. I really enjoy your POV because I believe that most people would have taken the shot from the stairs to the left. Love the feeling out who is the highest of us the tall statue or the tower of the cathredral or anyone else. Have a nice week end!

Hello Lars,
an impressive shot with the main optical characteristic, the statue on the foreground to be found in the same height with the bell tower in the background.The buildings on either side of the road create a great perspective that lead on the eye across the bell tower.Excellent the subdued light with the combination with the vivid blue sky.Very informative your note too.Well done.

Hej Lars, het abstract klassieke beeld werkt prachtig als counterpart van de toren van de prachtige OLV cathedraal. Er zit een diepte in deze compo die onze ogen na de confrontatie van de verticale elementen diep de oude stad intrekt. Mooi werk!

An outstanding view of the heart of the city. I like the way the monument in the foreground stabilizes the scene, with good depth and much for the eye to absorb. The clarity of detail is impressive. Well captured.

De eerste dag dat onze OV weer geldig was... Aankomend jaar heb ik hem voor het laatste jaar, dus dan zal ik wel echt goed gebruik van moeten maken!
Mooie foto. Het standbeeld rechts geeft de foto een extra toevoeging zo naast de toren.

Prachtige foto. Het vertikale formaat doet het uitstekend en door het gebruik van het standbeeld in de voorgrand zit er enorm veel perspectief en diepte in. Gefeliciteerd.

Hallo Lars,
that is nice. I have been several times in Antwerp, but before my times of photography and mainly for business. But I had some visits of the center and the cathedral is an impressive church. Later I often thought about a good POV for it because of the large tower, you found one excellent. Fine balanced with the statue and good colour effect with that red house. I add it to my theme of "Churches of our Lady".

Mooie gelegenheid om wat achterstand weg te werken. Op zicht is dit hier een oude truc, maar ik vind dat die hier wel heel mooi uitpakt met deze stoere krijger voor de fragiele gotische toren.

I like the concept and the setting of this photo. In fact this place is during a state of and attitude of expectancy for its visitors that is what the photo reflects , such a beautiful town center waiting for its visitors.
