Magic of Times Square Photo

Photographer’s Note

Every evening at the same hour it is common to see at least a dozen photographers with their tripods, and no kidding, nowadays with their cellphones, trying to record the magic of Times Square . I was simply one of them, and on this occasion I tried also to use the old zooming technique which consists in moving the focal length when the shutter is released. It was a quick gesture which had started before the click.

Hi Izzet,

You have used this simple unique technique to capture .. the relentless motion and energy of this urban place .. the existing light is really amplified by your technique .. I was thinking .. wondering what it would be like to layer it with the central tower from a "stable" exposure .. wonderful image and a lesson.

Hi Izzet,

Nice execution of the zooming technique. You capture the light well and still retain sharpness and clarity. Nice job with the exposure as well.
I would like to see more symmetry in this image; you set it up with the building in the center, giving us the expectation of symmetry, but the building is slightly tilted, and uneven amounts on each side.

izzet - this technique has worked really nicely here. I like that the centre of the frame is still in nice enough focus.

Perhaps we could re-name this one the Magic of Izzet Keribar's Lens - a very nice use of the technique to catch a sense of the vibrant buzz of NYC - I look for a little more clarity in that centered building but the idea is such a sound one.....
