Photographer’s Note

The Salvo Palace, building of the city of Montevideo designed by the architect Mario Palanti, was inaugurated in 1925 and with his 95 meters and 27 floors it was the highest tower of South America and the second higher of Latin America after the Building Moor in the City of Mexico. Independence is located in the corner of Avenue 18 of Julio and Plaza. Place where Gerardo Matos Rodriguez composed one of the most famous tangos of the world, the Cumparsita. Of eclectic style (doubtful and very criticized by many architects of its time) and characteristic silhouette, one has become an emblematic building of the city and reminder of the years of prosperity of the first decades of century XX.
This building has a twin brother in style, although of smaller height, constructed by he himself architect in Buenos Aires, the Barolo Palace.
